Malaysia Airlines Flight Goes Missing En Route to China

Anonymous
A civilian plane spotted small debris, including a wooden pallet, but a military jet went to the area and only saw seaweed. They'll try to find it again today.

Chinese and Japanese aircraft are on the way to the area.
Australian PM "very hopeful" that they will soon find something related to the recent sightings and Chinese satellite photo.

Liam Neeson is going through a lot of trouble to promote this Air Marshall movie.

Just when I thought I could wean myself off this obsession-new info. Pilot used a pay-as-you-go phone obtained under a false ID. Often terrorists use these types of phones (though not just terrorists of course.)

Finally the estranged wife is going to be questioned. Apparently it would violated Malaysian customs to question her so soon after she found out about the tragedy??!! I consider myself culturally sensitive..usually...but in this case? Screw customs. She should have been interviewed sooner.

Here is are 2 links..

You're welcome. I got it wrong. A mystery woman called him and said mystery woman had used a false ID to buy the phone.

Yes about phone I was just thinking it could have been an affair.

I wonder why this latest bit about the phone call isn't being reported on CNN's website.

The French said they saw debris on their satellite images. No details on location other than it was in the South Indian Ocean. No word on when the satellites took the pictures.

I am starting to think this plane will never be found.

I agree. If it's been this difficult to identify debris in the water that may or may not be part of the plane how are they ever going to find the black box?

Hopefully they will hone in on it. NASA is now involved. If it is in the search area, months or a year from now, maybe a piece will appear on a beach somewhere. That will give closure to the families, but trying to go backwards to find that black box may be impossible then.

Or it went north. Just because there is focus on the south doesn't mean it didn't go north. India in particular has a lax system; they didn't spot it going over the Andaman Islands (sp?).

Not happy about the pilot's throw-away-phone. He was separated from his wife, so less likely that he would need a phone like this for an affair. (of course who knows; Malaysian law may be different and punitive)

Where did you see the pilot had a throw away phone? I read the person who called him called from a throw away phone, but I haven't seen anywhere that he had one.

Also according to his daughter, her parents were not separated. They maintain two households and where the pilot lives depends on whether he is working or not. I have no idea what the actual marital situation is obviously but that is what the daughter said.

^^ good point, 10:40. I got the phone info from the PPrune website; the pilots were talking about it. But I didn't see the original post or link (there's 300+ pages there) so you might know more than me. Would love a link to the actual story re the phone.

This is the only thing that makes any sense so far. Spot on.
