Not from Magruder but also want to point out that they’re not actually a part of this boundary study (I don’t think), so it makes complete sense they wouldn’t have been engaged until Options E-H came out and created potential opportunity for them. Wootton also should have reached out to do coalition building earlier, since they were understandably more plugged in, but they were too busy plotting how to overtake Magruder on the CIP. |
Is that a yes…? Because the Karens aren’t the people we’ve seen on video and in text threads saying that. Truly, you don’t have to defend every member of your coalition to be anti-H. You too can call out racism. |
First, I like that you acknowledge their Karen-ess. Second, I’m not in the WhatsApp group, nor am I on Nextdoor. The only cesspool I dabble in is DCUM. Third, the only thing I’ve seen so far is the video circulating around with the white dude making a classist remark at the end of the Taylor fireside chat. I have no idea who this dude is and have never seen him in my life but I hope he rots! |
That’s why the boundary study is flawed form the start. It didn’t include schools like Magruder. The vast vast vast (like 99%) of Save Wootton coalition was not looped in to MCPS antics until H came out. I’ll be honest with you, I never heard of CIP until I started learning about everything post December 1. So we can’t exactly plot against Magruder CIP when 🤣 we didn’t even know what CIP was until recently. The speed in which Save Wootton coalesced has been amazing. |
I keep seeing this arguments that the Crown developers are somehow behind this Wooton push and, ummm, what? How? The developers left Crown over a year ago. All the houses were built and sold before the high school construction broke ground. If you purchased in the neighborhood, yes, you were told there was going to be a shiny new high school a half mile down the road, but, before the proposal at the end of 2025, no one imagined they would relocate Wooton! If you think the Crown developers were in on this with the MCPS, well, I have a bridge to sell you. |
Magruder PP here. I think we need to acknowledge there is privilege involved in activism, especially when it comes to things like speed of coalescing. Don’t get me wrong: I think the Save Wootton moment has been incredible and is doing great community advocacy, and we at Magruder look forward to doing this work together. BUT this is why I get ticked off by comments why would Magruder join so late? Why didn’t you speak up earlier. The onus should not be on individual communities, especially when communities don’t have the same resources. The onus should be on the decision makers to make a more equitable process such that communities don’t have to fight for limited advocacy time. |
Go back to the thread and look for yourself who made the comment first about it’s your fault Magruder for coming so late. Why did you come so late to the party? Who said it? Pro H. Karens be karen-ing. They don’t care about low-income or families of color unless it suits their narrative, then they are the first ones to shout you are racist and classist (indiscriminately, I may add, but I guess they don’t get the irony) |
No way DuFief parents cared about going to school with people from Downtown Crown (Rosemont island) and most likely not Fields Road. Oh god, those scary kids from Washingtonian Woods! Let’s not be silly. The real issue for them was the people east of 270 slated to move to Crown in A-D, like Washington Grove. But now nowhere east of 270 is slated to go to Crown in Option H. |
Karens are as allergic to people who disagree with them as they are to irony |
|
Let's be completely honest here.
Options A-D was the initial MCPS Central Office "friends and family" boundary plan. Options E-G were the "we got caught with our hands in the cookie jar, so we'll cut some of our losses but still push the limits" plan. Option H is the "kick the can down the road so you can fight about re-districting later after I retire, but I gotta open Crown or the school will sit empty" plan. As far as the safety and racism accusations on this thread, you do realize this year's shooting didn't involve any Asian or White kids, right? Wasn't the mother of the kid shot even one of the parents complaining last year about racism at the school? I think that MCPS is breaking up the state's #3 top academic school, but if they want to do that and drag down MCPS' reputation nationally, it's on them. MCPS is already becoming more of a "babysitting school" than a serious academic institution since the parents who can afford tutoring are keeping the scores afloat. Don't believe? Guess what. This is the Public School model at most major inner cities. There will be a tipping point where parents (i.e. taxpayers) get fed up with paying high taxes for mediocre services. Once cuts start, MCPS can say goodbye to their Marie Antoinette attitude towards parents. |
Pro H or anti H, it's true. Magruder would have had a better shot if they got in before the superintendent made his rec. Magruder had a great showing at that last CIP meeting but it was too late. The only way to get Magruder in now is via amendment and the BOE is having none of that. |
| Serious question: to all the Karens, especially the HKIC who is screaming racism on every platform from Facebook to WhatsApp, etc. if you genuinely think the anti-H families are full of racists, why do you even want to go to school with them? |
We don't! It's a very small subset of anti H making all the racist comment and we would LOVE it if they went somewhere else!!!! |
Bro, your anti-H friends are doing SO MUCH to beat the charges that they’re in bed with racists. Help your sisters out! |
Okay so then you agree that these people should be called out. Which seems, to me, to be all they’re advocating for. So…you’re all on the same side of this particular issue and can be united in shutting down any gross arguments about race, including the one that’s just popped up on this very page! Also, good for you for staying off the WhatsApp group. It’s bad there. |
