Not scouting any game. Just know that Centreville is a 3 man team.

Centerville’s top four are 22, 8, 4, and 2

One observation of the Cville games and that team I caught this year is they are “weird” as strange as it sounds. They are like a weird little cult from coaches to players to even their JV players and coaches. Friendly enough but even when they lose, they are trying to dissect you and your team. Kinda creepy.

F’in weird. Even their parents are nice after they lose.

I’d hate to see any of them in a dark parking lot 30 minutes after a game. Weird vibe from them is all I’m saying. 😳

Oakton is weird, along with the head coach

Sounds like a New Jersey or Long Island transplant 😂

Seen almost every game and it is all #22 on offense with some nice contributions by #8. She must score 40-50% of the goals as the entire offense resolves around her. If we are losing in the 2nd half it gets worse and she will take nearly every shot and doesn't even look to pass. Offense couldn't do anything against Battlefield when she was out 2nd half -- only 3 goals scored in 25 minutes. Yes, there are some other really good players on this team but coaches either don't use them or know how to run a team offense. This team could be so much better watching how other team's play.

Most public school teams have 2-3 standout players and most publics have a wide variety of talent, as you get what you get when you inherit them. Coaches can coach their players within the rules, but at the end of the day, sometimes not all players respond or enhance their skills over the years as most are not dedicated to the game because they have so many other things going on. What I'm saying is, I do agree with other posters here that publics probably have 2-3 kids that can play, but i wouldn't be too quick to blame the coaches. Yes, I do agree that coaches need to coach and lead by example, etc... Not making excuses for any coach or player, just pointing out the fact that within public school lax in NOVA, you are sometimes limited in terms of resources, player dedication, coaching knowledge, etc... So if parents think they are going to see UNC type caliber lacrosse, they need to be more realistic.

Maybe they don’t pass to your daughter because she drops it wide open...

Great point. Public School coaches are often limited to 2 standout players if they are lucky. But the upper teams competing for a state title also have some very skilled complementary players committed to play at the college level. Some coaches use these players and play more of a team offense while other coaches rely only on their stand-out players running isos and two man games. Past champions Langley and Yorktown are great examples of a couple elite standout players but solid supporting cast and all played a team game. The standout players often had more assist than goals. This is what makes Battlefield a threat.

One or two scorers, a couple of solid defenders, someone who can hit cutters and a solid goalie is about the best most publics can hope for. Combine that with enough girls who can throw and catch and understand the basics and you've got a very strong team.

I’ve got Oakton and South Lakes tonight.

I'll take south lakes, and oakton, but oakton by only 2-3 as i think Cville will come to play tonight.

…and while we watch, all will be serenaded by the ding-a-ling of cow bells.
