How is this episode demonstrating that Trump would be another Putin? Trump wasn't really expansionist.

Heck, there were no new wars under Trump. There was a pretty strong peace process in the Middle East. I'm not sure why Trump is even
mentioned in this thread.

Clearly Putin read Biden is weak.

No kidding.
Posts like the first one above are just insane. And, an effort to distract from Biden's truly horrendous foreign policy decisions.
To make this crisis about Trump, or Trump supporters is a cry of desperation and deflection.
It is clear that Putin saw a combination of things... the Afghanistan debacle, the fact that Biden filled his administration with former Obama people who did nothing when he annexed Crimea, and a series of failures domestically and knew that this was the time to go.
It is no coincidence that Biden started building up his troops along the border a month after the Afghanistan withdrawal.

What Putin DIDN'T see was the pure will of the Ukrainian people to fight for their homeland.
Their determination and grit is admirable. And, it is this desire to win that has caused other leaders to change their positions and start taking a hard line against Russia.

So that's why Trump and the GOP are cheering on Putin? You all want your cake and to eat it too.

If they are dropping back, do you think it’s because Russia plans to drop bombs and is protecting their own troops and weapons?

Wouldn’t surprise me if Putin is going to start dropping heavier bombs. US, UK, France need to provide air support ASAP.

Trump was into making "deals" like buying Greenland in order to expand.

Yes, buying and invading are totes the same.

Trump/republicans = Putin.

You know what is FACT?

US imports of crude oil from Russia shot up as soon as Biden became president.
And, this past May, it was the highest it has even been....... and Biden was president.

Assuming Ukraine weathers the storm and Russia retreats back to within her own borders, I think we should maintain the moral high ground. No counter-strike should be made onto Russian soil.

Our quarrel is not with the Russian soldiers or the Russian people.

If Russia retreats, we should resist the impulse for revenge.

The Russia are not going to retreat. They will level cities and kill as many civilians as they can. This is going to be brutal. Ukraine will want revenge and it is their right. No one knows how this will end only that many many people will die.
