So just shut up then, and don’t try to tell the rest of us what’s happening with this case when you actually have no idea. Watching CNN is worse than having no idea, because you’re literally getting an agenda that is completely the opposite of what happened. Hopefully once this trial is over he can sue all of them (and Biden!!) to encourage them to be more responsible with their statements in future. Basically the same as the other kid who was attacked in the media for being racist etc when he was actually nothing but polite to the native Americans. The media is disgusting in this country. |
I haven’t presumed to tell anyone what’s happening in the trial. My comments to this discussion have been solely limited to asking for clarification from pro-Rittenhouse people when their claims don’t match what I am reading in the media. Each time I have done so, they have been unable to back up their claims with facts. |
I missed your questions. Please give us your top 3 questions. Will try to back up with facts. |
How do his defenders explain him posing with a known racist group, smiling? I also don't think it was premeditated murder but please stop idolizing this guy. |
No one is idolizing him. Doesn’t matter if he is posing with a known racist group or not. Those of us who believe in the justice system and the constitution don’t want to see him convicted if he was indeed acting in self defense. That is all. |
Hundreds of thousands of Americans idolize him and you know it. NP |
I personally haven’t seen anyone idolizing him here on this thread. Maybe out in the real world, but I haven’t been reading much news there. For me, his background is irrelevant. I just hope he gets a fair trial. |
Too bad. With that judge, that prosecutor, and that defense, he's not getting a fair trial. Oh well. |
That prosecutor should have been removed from the case. He’s more interested in running for office than getting a conviction. If Rittenhouse is acquitted of all serious charges, as I suspect he will be, it will be because he’s been presenting his case to the cameras, rather than the judge and jury. |
DP Where are you getting your information? Nobody idolizes KR but a significant portion of the country is mystified by the rush to judgement, the dissemination of misinformation, the willful ignorance and the naked hatred exhibited towards the accused from day one. The endless distortion of facts and the refusal to adhere to the justice system norms of presumed innocence smell of something sinister at work. And then toss in the nut jobs who threaten to burn down the city if the outcome doesn’t go there way and one gets a clear picture of the perversion of justice in the name of……what exactly? |
DP. You’re right, except it could very well be counted in the millions. And yes, that’s bad. Rittenhouse is absolutely a bad person who had bad intentions that day. But that doesn’t mean he wasn’t acting in self defense when he pulled the trigger. He should get punished, but I haven’t seen a strong argument for the homicide charges. I fear we don’t have a proper crime or punishment for his actions. |
No, double jeopardy prevents a new trial with lesser charges. Maybe the feds could bring on a different case, but the state can’t. The defense can fight new, lesser charges, and did so with some of the charges. But it’s a risk for them. A jury might decide they’d rather stretch their interpretations of the facts than let him free entirely. |
OMG, the people supporting Rittenhouse’s “heroic” actions are the same saying that 1/6 Capitol invasion was a nothing burger. |
The 1/6 attack on the capitol was treason, at least by some of the participants. And Rittenhouse is almost certain a racist who was looking to provoke the protestors. But that doesn’t mean he committed homicide. An acquittal on the charges should not exonerate him as a person. |
