The Dems need to let everyone get their insurance bills for next year.

Then reopen the government and let the Rs twist in the wind.

Why wait until the bills are out? Senate Dems need to take credit for raising awareness and agree to reopen because this is screwing up the economy and Feds and contractors need to get back to work.

There is no reason to re-open the government if Trump is going to ignore any spending bill passed and do as he pleases. Get it?

Of course I got it. What’s your point?

DP. That we keep it closed until the GOP finds it's spine, which may be impossible at this point since they are the biggest simps who ever lived.

It’s bullshit when anyone brings up immigration now. There was a bipartisan bill on immigration in the spring of 2024. The GOO shut it down because Trump told them to as he wanted to campaign on immigration.

The country has stage 5 cancer and Congress refuses to administer chemo and radiation.

There was a bipartisan bill to preserve the status quo. That’s not what people wanted. They want immigration to stop. People have been voting for this for decades and they just now are doing something.

It did not preserve the status quo. Sen Lankford is/was hardly a RINO. You may not like immigration but we need immigration for our economy to function.

I wonder what Mike Johnson's endgame is here. The closer we get to November 21, the less effective his CR will be. And once we get past that date any action to open the government will require a House vote - rendering his excuse to keep them out of session invalid.

Is this going to last until the next election? And if so, that will go down in history as a Republican shut down. Trump himself said years ago that shut downs are the responsibility of the president. Plus Republicans have total control of the government right now. Dems know this and soon Republicans will face it (not MAGA though, they’ll never face anything)

The Democrats painted themselves into a corner. They want to both blame the Republicans while getting credit for fighting for healthcare subsidies. That’s a very fine needle to thread compared to the messaging on a clean CR.

The blame falls on the party that has complete control of government right now. That and the president himself who is quoted saying blame falls on POTUS for government shutdown. Spin it all you want, but it’s clear as day who is to blame here.

And yet. Against all odds, the Democrats’ message about health care subsidies is starting to resonate.

People are getting their premium increase notices and connecting that the GOP supports those increases.

The first 12:24 here...do you feel like answering my question? The closer we get to November 21, the less leverage Mike Johnson has. I'd say he is the one who is painted into a corner.

The idea that a CR is acceptable is BS. It is their job to pass budgets -- new, thoughtful, updated budgets. They have had all year to figure something out.

What gets me is how the GOP won't even bother to negotiate to reopen our government? Now they want Dems to fund the military so Trump can use them to crush peaceful dissent. I feel bad for families who are going without pay but at this point we're better off without it. Curiously, they have funds for gulf stream jets and luxury ballrooms.
