While "democrats" writ large may not be popular, the issues and positions they support have well over 50% and in many cases 75%+ support. It is mostly the GOP media eco-system that tears down and lies and doesn't provide nuance that has killed the democrats. They simply cannot communicate their way out of a paper bag. Anyone says "DEI" or "CRT" or "defund the police" or "socialists and communists" or "Biden Inc" and everyone knows what they are talking about, no matter how much gaslighting and lying goes behind those terms. The Dems, for whatever reason, simply don't have the capacity to match that level of media definition and penetration to keep up. |
| I don’t think the Dems want the Pubs to end the filibuster so maybe they should end the shutdown? |
Many Republicans don't want to end the filibuster because some of them are pragmatic enough to understand they might lose the majority. |
Yes, the republicans should but they are protecting the trumpstein documents. They are also just sick. |
They already are, but understood. |
I think Rs have a choice to make. Keep the filibuster and stop doing end runs around it when it's convenient. Or just get rid of it. |
Rules changes take 2/3 vote. There is a "nuclear option" Trump wants Thune to go nuclear. Thune says he is committed to the filibuster but has repeatedly sidestepped it. Formal rule change: The most direct way is to formally amend the text of Senate rules, like Rule 22, which governs cloture. This requires a two-thirds majority vote of senators present and voting, which is a high bar. Precedent change ("nuclear option"): A more plausible method is to use the "nuclear option," where a senator raises a point of order against a rule, the presiding officer rules, and then a simple majority of the Senate votes to overturn the ruling, establishing a new precedent. |
Looks like not for at leat ten or more years. Not the Senate for sure and not the Hoyse either with all the redistricting and the anticipated SC decision in few months. |
Things can change more quickly than you might think. Especially with a major economic disaster staring us down. |

I think the UMC bubble is way intact. Market healthy. Until either in trouble, par for the course continues. Not saying it's right but those who move the needle need incentive as they say, unless it hurts you personally..
In terms of political constituents, maybe that's more sensitive issue but big pic, I just don't think the hyper paranoid among us need to start worrying just yet. Next year. Next year though.... Now is the time to prep not to sound the alarm yet. Get busy getting ready v stressing out already.

Dems haven't had a leader who could effectively communicate to the American people since Obama left office. This is how silly GOP talking points gain traction. Needless to say, mumbling, bumbling Joe wasn't an effective communicator but neither is Trump at 80 years old and Dems need to do a better job of taking advantage of this glaring weakness in an elderly man. |
He can't because he wants a permanent recess because once there is a vote to release unredacted Epstein files trump is in deep human excrement! Pedophilia, rape, and money laundering for Epstein. He doesn't have immunity for any of these crimes. |
No the Dems have to go against Fox News, Twitter, Facebook, Google and now TikTok. |
No one gives a damn what Fox News, MSNBC or any other garbage media source has to say when there is a legitimate leader in The White House. We haven't had a legitimate leader in almost a decade so there is a tendency for gullible people to take garbage media sources seriously. |
| Dear god I hope they keep the shutdown through November and all TSA and ATCs walk off the job during Thanksgiving week. Make all Americans feel the pain. Paralyze all travel for thanksgiving. |
