The reason the government is not reopening Epstein and seating new Congress people just wait til the shit show Nov 4
New York Times has been doing a controlled demolition.
Revealing a few people at a time, because they know all will be revealed, and it will not be Trump.

I hear November 1, when the new premiums are in, Chuck Schumer will declare it is too late and agree to the CR.

The Dems need to let everyone get their insurance bills for next year.

Then reopen the government and let the Rs twist in the wind.

Why wait until the bills are out? Senate Dems need to take credit for raising awareness and agree to reopen because this is screwing up the economy and Feds and contractors need to get back to work.

There is no reason to re-open the government if Trump is going to ignore any spending bill passed and do as he pleases. Get it?

Most of us do....MAGAs and his cult followers are still struggling with basic reasoning skills.

Didn’t most of the people who will be impacted by these increases vote for this? If that’s the case, I say reopen and let them deal with it. They clearly aren’t concerned about paying for it.

Trump himself said years ago that shut downs are the responsibility of the president. Plus Republicans have total control of the government right now. Dems know this and soon Republicans will face it (not MAGA though, they’ll never face anything)

The Democrats painted themselves into a corner. They want to both blame the Republicans while getting credit for fighting for healthcare subsidies. That’s a very fine needle to thread compared to the messaging on a clean CR.

A truly clean CR would continue to fund existing things at existing levels. This one has ACA and Medicare funding going away. Thus I would not consider it to be a clean CR.

I saw this on Threads but don’t yet have a link:

JUST IN: Thirteen GOP reps from swing districts sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson urging action on ACA subsidies. If premiums spike during open enrollment, they know voters will burn them for it. The panic is loud when you read between the lines.

These are the reps:
- Jen Kiggans
- Jeff Van Drew
- Marc Molinaro
- Mike Lawler
- Nick LaLota
- Anthony D’Esposito
- Tom Kean Jr.
- Brian Fitzpatrick
- David Valadao
- John Duarte
- Young Kim
- Michelle Steel
- Zach Nunn

He might not care either way. Dozens of seats stand to be gained in the south if the voting rights act is dropped as well as gerrymandering, so if some of these people lose, then so be it. They are all just pawns.

Not to mention Trump just canceling anything he doesn't like and funneling it into private jets for his minions or gilded ballrooms.

That is the same as existing levels, as in 2020 Democrats passed a temporary five year subsidy boost, that goes beyond four times the poverty level.

Reminds me of those temporary tax cuts--mostly benefitting the wealthy--that we just made permanent....
