Part of the problem on highways, at least, is adaptive cruise control. It leaves a gap and the person in front doesn't see or care that you are there and since the adaptive cruise control has kicked in, they think you are happy. The only recourse is to override the cruise control and get closer. If you stop being parked in the left lane, this won't happen and everyone is happy.
And no, at 60 in a 55 you are not one of the fast ones. Stay out of the left lane. |
| I bet 100% of the posters who can’t stop ranting about the left lane are men. And to the person about to pipe up, “Nope, I’m a woman,” I call bs. |
Yeah, no. I have a dash camera and it would absolutely put you at fault if you caused an accident while breakchecking me. |
| If people are constantly tailgating you, you're in the wrong lane or are going too slow. Do not drive under the speed limit. I get not wanting to speed, but then just drive the speed limit. |
Who under 85 uses cruise control?
|
What a dumb comment. Of course, I use the cruise control. |
Impotent old men driving crappy cars are the ones holding up the left lane. |
Ok, old man. No wonder people have to maneuver awkwardly around you since you aren’t driving with traffic. |
Feel free to call BS, but I'm a 43 year old woman. I also learned to drive here, so I'm not incompetent about local (and general) driving courtesies, etiquette, and safety. Stay out of the left lane. |
Using cruise control is so dangerous in this area! If you're on an empty road, sure. But it's not meant for the kind of numbers on DC area highways. You need to be able to constantly adjust to the ebb and flow. |
Just because you don't know how to use it properly doesn't mean the rest of us don't. I'm neither old nor a man and I most certainly don't hold up traffic. |
Who says I use it on 495??? Of course, you can't use it when there is heavy traffic and constant lane changes. However, the moment you get out of this congested area it's perfectly fine and possible to use it. |
That is what adaptive cruise control does, brainiac. It automatically adjusts speed downward when people in front slow down and speeds up when traffic moves faster. And it maintains a constant distance between you and the car in front. It also hits the brakes!! |
What a horrible invention. Another “feature” that enables a driver to pay even less attention and have even less control. |
Clearly, you've never used it so sit this one out. Why do people feel the need to comment on things that they know nothing about??? |
