Stop tailgating me!

Left lane is distance lane. The further one is going before exiting again, the further left they get in lanes. If one is exiting in just a mile or two, they stay in the far right lanes.

The whole "fast lane" thing got started cause of a rock song.

Um. What?

No, "slower traffic keep right" is literally the law in Virginia. And many other states.

Where on earth did you learn to drive? Because that is dead wrong.

You could not be more wrong. You could try, but you would not be successful.

Yeah I urge you to tell the state trooper that tale and see if he buys it.

Why would a trooper be discussing that? No laws being broken in regard to lanes. Just improper lane changes.

Also, police are the lowest I.Q. professionals there are, statistically speaking, second only to public school teachers from all accounts, so they aren't very well versed on laws and general knowledge about things, even traffic related.

Talking all over the US in general, not specifically in certain areas.

Also, "slower traffic keep right" has nothing to do with this specificially, if you will stop reacting and think.

You are so incredibly wrong. Where did you learn to drive?? Who taught you this?!

If you're on a 4 lane highway, you stay in the lane according to your speed, not your distance. Left lane is ALWAYS the passing lane. Right lane is the slow lane. The middle lanes are for cruising and going with the traffic flow, with generally faster lanes in 2nd from left and slower/moderate 2nd from right.

You are a dick.

DP. Tailgating happens to me even when (1) I am in the far right lane, (2) I am doing the speed limit, and (3) there are 2 EMPTY lanes left of me. And the tailgating will go on for many miles, not just until the next exit.

Please, please, just pass me using any of the empty lanes to the left of me.

So the troublesome tailgaters aren’t speeding at all. Interesting.

You are an idiot. Go back and read previous posts as the Virginia statute was already posted. It is the law.

The left lane is designed to be for passing. It is not a cruising lane.

You are clearly one of the idiots causing problems on the read.

Based on these responses, do you all actually live in the DC area? Because people will tailgate even if you are going above the speed limit in the right lane, and even if you are going many miles above the speed limit in the left lane. We live in Fairfax, and the aggressive driving is out of control.
