Pelosi announces impeachment inquiry

Mick is blaming the media for reporting his words (and showing them on live television)

Get over it.

Leaving the closed Sondland deposition, Adam Schiff told us of Mulvaney’s comments: “I think Mr Mulvaney’s acknowledgement means that things have gone from very very bad to much much worse.”

He declined to answer further questions including whether he wants to speak to Mulvaney.

Schiff is an idiot. I am sure his source misconstrued or misrepresented Mulvaney's comments. He's still an idiot, though.

The ones on live TV? Mick Mulveney is Schiff’s source. And we all saw exactly what he said.

I'm sorry, I think you mean Mulvaney is an idiot. He seems to think that by cheerfully and forcefully admitting to corruption and illegal conduct, that no one will care.

He is very, very wrong, and he's in a lot of trouble now.

It seems like a ploy by Trump to get impeachment wrapped up as quickly as possible so Mitch can kill it in the Senate. They are now just openly committing crimes and admitting to them so the House will be forced to impeach.

It's a crazy strategy, but I understand what they are trying to do. An acquittal means Trump takes a victory lap just before the 2020 election, even if 60% of the country hates his guts. He is gleeful to rub it in his non-supporters' faces that he is above the law.

Yeah. It’s a tactical mistake. He is making it very, very hard for many R Senators not to vote to convict.

Definitely illegal
Not how foreign policy works
Real outrage

Besides that, 1000% correct Skippy.

What does the Constitution say regarding high crimes and misdemeanors while in office?

Is requesting help from a foreign country OK? It's true that countries do this all the time.
But it's not OK if it's to find potentially damaging information on a domestic political rival...
What about asking for help in digging up past history, like the DNC server? This cannot be construed as looking for dirt on a current opponent, or can it?
Did Mulvaney say at any point that Trump wanted to investigate the Bidens? That would not be OK.

Regarding Giuliani, perhaps it's not illegal or impeachable to ask an individual without the proper vetting or security clearances to talk to a foreign country, but is it impeachable, when that individual is being paid by that foreign country (Ukraine), or by a known foreign enemy (Russia)? That would be a major conflict of interest at minimum.

RE: Bidens - it was part of what Rudy was doing - it was widely covered. You can connect the dots from being told to work with Rudy to what Rudy was doing. Also, it was in the text messages.
RE: Rudy : it is illegal to be working for "free" on behalf of the Federal Government.

The DNC server is a total (and debunked) conspiracy theory. I cannot believe anyone, much less the President of the United States and the Acting Chief of Staff are peddling this BS.

At a certain, very high level, you can consult short term for the federal government. But it has to be a formal arrangement, and you are subject to all the legal and ethics rules of Feds, which Giuliani clearly violated.

We are getting close to post-Impeachment Nixon numbers.

According to the WaPo, this week we got Nixon’s numbers 4 daYs before he left office. If they crest and go down, Trump May survive. If they keep rising, he’s screwed.

Seriously -- there are SOME Republican Senators who actually believe in our democracy.

I can only think of a couple who might risk their political career to save our democracy which is so disappointing

Just wait. The tide is turning and these guys are looking desperately for a life raft off the S.S. Trumptanic. The minute the polls give them room to turn on him, they will.

It is pretty close now. Another week with similar revelations will get it to a solid 55%.

"I'm starting to get worried for POTUS now," a person close to the Trump campaign said in a text message of Mulvaney's performance. "Total disaster unless there's some strategy I'm not seeing."

"I thought it was really remarkable," said one former White House official, "because it was either a huge unforced error or a calculated concession."

Politico reporting after Mulvaney’s disastrous presser where he admits quod pro who and yeah “we do it all the time” with holding foreign aid for political dirt.
