Gotta say, I find the whole think of the poor, disabled babies trope pretty disgusting. You don't know what other people are dealing with as they make their decisions and this is yet another instance where folks like to be righteous without having to take on any of the hardship. A good friend of mine terminated a wanted pregnancy when she found out the fetus had a severe congenital birth defect that would cause lifelong physical and mental disabilities and challenges. The kicker is that she already has a child with that birth defect (it's not considered genetic) and chose to have him, and went to great lengths to do everything she could to increase his chances for success. But after watching him live with his disabilities, endure yearly, lengthy surgeries, know all the challenges that will face him his entire life, not to mention the effect on his older brother who is not disabled, they couldn't continue the pregnancy. I guess people will still judge, but I trust that women know what's right for them and their families. |

To These GOP's who want to compel women to have children:
* Day care costs - on average $2,000/mos , which is about half of the salary of the average American - and you pay PER CHILD THAT is a DIRECT disincentive to have children * Currently women in America only get 6 weeks maternity leave - don't return after 12 months and YOU'RE FIRED THAT is s disincentive to have a child * The average American man with an IQ of 100 earns $7/hr THAT is a disincentive to women to have their baby Banning Abortion will just ensure No Woman ever f'cks these sorry sacks again - And more women will move to the NE and West Coast with their College degrees, Masters and PhD's It will NOT result in more babies born to uneducated, under employed men with no pension |

I'm white and when I was PG at 25, the clinic that I went to had a SW practically salivating over the $$$$ she could make " finding an adoptive home" for my baby ( born to a healthy, attractive , college educated woman who did not do drugs ).... she was a LCSW, and yet, her hand shook as she handed me her " business card" and " assured me that she knew a lawyer who could help me and pay my expenses" SICKENING thing : unknown to her, a few weeks later I miscarried, and she called me to " check up on how I was doing " ....likely she had a family with $$$$ all lined up ( and her commission ) When I told her, through tears, that I had had a miscarriage - her response was a DIAL TONE So, no, there will be a market for white babies and they won't spend a split second in a basket on the SCOTUS steps- But the AA children who already fill the Foster care rolls and are never adopted- Not so Much |

First of all, that is a gross thing to say. No one should be afraid for their life. Abortion is illegal in McLean or Potomac tomorrow, your dd gets pregnant Friday, on Saturday she's on a plane to Canada. This isn't about you or your dd.
