His dad was apparently a brilliant playwright and descendant of poet William Faulkner but with that intellectualism apparently comes from a lineage of substance abuse and depression. His paternal grandmother died of suicide from gunshot wound just like Britney Spears paternal grandmother. His paternal uncle was also an alcoholic just like his father (very similar to Britney’s family) . The uncle also died by suicide gunshot wound . He also has a paternal aunt that suffered from heroin addiction .

I hate to be mean here but maybe J Los Latin godmother psychic was on to something when she said she and Ben shouldn’t marry or have kids .

J Lo should realize she’s the prize not him. It doesn’t matter that he won two Oscars. She should stop believing what people say about her lack of talent or worth in Hwood. I don’t think we will ever see another movie star turned pop star as big as her or another big Latin star like her or one from the Bronx . She won’t get her flowers till she’s dead but if you ask me, she has a far superior standing than most in Hwood because she’s still making top movies even if they’re on Netflix at age 50+ Most actresses aren’t relevant at 50+ and most popstars don’t perform at the Super Bowl at 50. Michael died at that same age preparing to perform . It’s not easy. She makes it look easy because she has the discipline

A woman who's.been married and.divorced 4 times, broke off an engagement to ARod before quickly marrying Ben Affleck, and began her succession of men with Puff Diddy Daddy is not "a prize." Experienced, yes.

Her work ethic and legendary status is what makes her a prize . Like I said, I don’t think we’ll ever see a movie star /pop star combination again like that. They don’t make stars like J Lo anymore that are singer/dancer/actress combos and business Moguls.

Gaga came close but cracked after five years of work.

J Lo is a machine to still do what she does at almost 60 and she’s not the work of plastic surgeons, stage parents or powerful mogul husbands like Mariah Carey or Salma Hayek .

She will survive another divorce. Ben is the one who needs the help and is seemingly crumbling when it should be her

Oh, come on. I agree with you that Jennifer is a talented entertainer and that it's commendable that she's still making the sexy pop/movie star thing work far beyond her twenties. I am a Jennifer defender in this thread.

But to throw Mariah Carey under the bus is gross. I don't know much about Salma Hayek, so I can't speak to that, but Mariah Carey is a wildly talented woman who also broke barriers in maintaining not just pop relevancy, but domination far beyond the age the public/media deems the "sell by" date for female pop stars.

Mariah writes her own music. Wonderfully talented singer. Yes, she had a mogul husband- who was abusive and from whom she had to escape. She would have been had she never met him- her talent is undeniable. I don't think Jennifer has had facial plastic surgery, while I think Mariah has- but who cares? Two women great at their jobs. And Mariah is deeply, uniquely talented.

I think Jennifer Lopez is having a horrible realization. She thinks she is a younger Madonna but no one cares to see her in concert while Madonna's tours are sold out worldwide. That's got to be a kick in the teeth / humbling.

I am confused by posts claiming that J Lo is a popular, strong, and great career now. She canceled the tour because it wasn't selling, and she would be at empty venues. She doesn't sound at all like a huge superstar.
I have not listened to or known any of her other songs except "On the Floor," which is in my gym mix. I am her age, so I should know and like her songs right?
