Not my read on things at all. I think the relationship just fizzled out. He cannot handle the reality of marriage and compromise and boringness. And she thought this was some epic love affair (which, to be fair, he probably led her on with initially when it was new and exciting for him) so she followed her typical MO of uprooting hers and her kids lives for love. She will be punished because it’s her fourth divorce and she went on about how Ben was the one and she finally found love.

Ben never gets punished even though he’s the one that checks out of every marriage and relationship. Gwyneth Paltrow was dead on when she said Ben is great in the beginning but after a while starts to get anxious and unhappy    in a relationship and it’s more to do with him than anything the woman is doing
