Now the excuse is they aren’t ready to play SJC when the season starts? Probably the most truthful thing I’ve read here from an IAC parent. It’s not about players wanting to transfer to SJC. It’s about coaches knowing they aren’t ready to play the local powerhouse down the street. |
While Landon is peaking at the right time and playing their best ball of the season, don't think they have the fire power to run with Prep for 4 quarters. Prep's attack combo of Kabari, Horning and Burns is the best attack unit we have seen in a while. I think Prep's goalie is also very underrated. Hoyas 12, Landon 7 |
JV or varsity today? |
Current parent of a lower school boy who aspires to play college lacrosse or so he thinks he does... I happened to play lacrosse in the Ivy League in the 90s, I played football in the fall, and played hoops in the winter even though I was not any good at it. While times are a lot different today from when I was playing ball, I want my son to be able to "take a break" from lacrosse and play at least a 2nd sport in MS and HS. I'd be wary of any HS coach pushing his players to "play year-round lax". If you look at most of the top players in college, I'd estimate 75% of them played a 2nd sport in HS and really excelled at it too. |
No one is pushing HS players to play year round. They make that decision. |

Stop making comments that are false. IAC schools do not practice out of season. They are allowed 1 practice and 1 tournament in the Fall. To say that Bullis, St Albans. and SSSA violate the rules by having out-of-season practices is ridiculous. Not sure why Bullis is the only IAC to play SJC. I thought Speaks and Urick are friends and were teammates in high school.
SJC had an excellent team over the past few years and it looks to continue over the next few years. Congrats to Coach Speaks and the players. It would be a great event if the IAC champion were to play the IAC Champion. This can be done. Landon vs Prep today. These 2 teams have not played in an IAC Championship since 2015. |
Landon won’t be on the same field with us. Game over. |
False. All the players on the JV team have been the same players since day one. The same attack, same middies and same poles and same goalie in addition to the FOGO. It was the same players that played SA with the same outcome earlier in the season. It is JV people and if the IAC would enforce the rules if any about swing players that i would understand. 6 of the starters are freshman, 2 8th graders, 3 juniors, 2 sophomores. Congrats Bullis JV Lax! Back to Varsity and the big game today people! |
|
Same numbers for different kids? Go watch some of Bullis games on video. The evidence is there as lots of the same numbers also played varsity games all year. Parents even said they played down at the game. Why would they say that? STA was 3 sophs and the rest fresh and 8th graders. Juniors playing JV? Wow. |
This is such a nonsense post I dont even know where to begin. And running down a school for providing scholarships and aid to students for academics and the arts is telling on yourself. It seems a lot of people are upset that SJC upset the long standing apple cart of elitist privates that always used to dominate the lacrosse scene. Don't let that make you get in your feelings and run down the excellent school it is, on the whole. Once we win baseball this weekend that will mean titles in- Football, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Baseball- in the most competitive league in the country. |
Every player can make their own decisions on if they are gonna play multiple sports in HS. Are you playing the other sport and making a difference or do you just want to be part of the team? WCAC Football and Basketball are on a different level over IAC schools so you risk injury and you usually won’t get on the field. There have been players that play multiple sports at WCAC schools and get on the field but the other sport is usually priority over lacrosse. Duenkel and Tasty both played FB but they decided to focus on lax after a couple of seasons of doing both. Seems that decision paid off. Number one players at their positions. |
| When was the last time anybody mentioned SJC in a capacity outside of their athletic prowess? It just doesn't happen. It's a low-tier academic school with a unbelievably high-tier athletics program. Nothing to be ashamed of, but let's not fluff them up to be something they're not. |
This is a lacrosse board not an academic one. Maybe head over to that board. Let’s not change the subject matter because you feel inferior on the topic. |
Yes, duplicate numbers. If any of the starters on JV played on Varsity it was garbage time but most play 5 minutes. Yes, 3 Juniors. Wow is correct! Would agree no Juniors should be playing Varsity ever. |
