Her career is ruined because she wanted to advance it by trying to build a clout and grandstand on problematic grounds, in the middle of the metoo movement.
Her career is ruined because of her bad calculations.
And finally, aside from JD, she's a mediocre actress.

Do you know how to read? I said a BENDER. A drug fueled BENDER. It is a colloquialism for when someone takes a lot of drugs and spends a prolonged period high/intoxicated and generally makes a bunch of poor choices

Sorry, don't yell, didn't have my glasses on
Regardless, after all this, he'll still be remembered as one of the greatest actors of our time and she she'll not be remembered as any kid of an artist (maybe a con-artist). And certainly not because of him.

Let's not get carried away now.

Man, are you his PR. One of the greatest actors of our time with not a single major acting award to his name? Is he planning on killing Daniel Day Lewis, Bryan Cranston, Forrest Whitaker, Gary Oldman, or any of the superior actors in the same age range?

-just doing ask you grannies with the reading glasses a solid and fixing this nightmare of formatting issues that this chain is devolving into

Yeah, let's bore lively "grandmas" with formatting issues and cringe nerd consumer logic, masked as prestige ("major awards").

1. He's an actor who can't get acting jobs, testifying in front of jurors. They are his audience. He can't help but act for them. Same with Amber.
2. He talked at length and detail about how abusive his mother was. He got asked "Was your father abusive?" He swiftly and firmly answered that his father wasn't. And then proceeded to explain that his mother would tell his father to whip Johnny, and his father would do it. He just wasn't mean about it the way his mother was, so Johnny didn't view it as abuse.
3. He clearly has a hard time setting boundaries. My mother did a lot less to me than his did to him, and I set VERY firm boundaries with her. He took care of his mother and brought her to award shows and premiers - I wonder how he reconciled what she did, in his head. And then he got together with an abusive wife. Repeating the pattern. I bet there was something about her Crazy that was familiar and comfortable to him.
4. Why was SO MUCH of their personal lives recorded? I've recorded someone exactly once in my life. ONCE. How is it that she happened to record all these conversations?

I've been asking myself the same thing- who records their arguments and such? Bizzaro! The Bender-Blender person made me LOL- I can't read without my glasses anymore as well....

Just answering the arguments question — apparently their martial therapist told them to? Seems weird to me but I’m not a therapist.

The therapist told them to record? I could see that. I had to videotape myself in training for a job and it's pretty horrifying to see how you come across sometimes. I can only imagine what it would be like to hear yourself during an argument when you are bat shit crazy.

Wow, I have had lots of therapy and lots of marriage therapy with lots of different therapists (I am a mess but not at their level of mess) and have never been asked to record anything.

Guilty from previous trial. Why is this even in the courts?

You are referencing the UK trial which, like this one, is a civil trial. He lost his civil trial against Heard in the UK. No one was found guilty of anything. Also, the reason Depp's current lawsuit can proceed here is that it's a different country, different case, different causes of action, different standards of proof.

DP. Much easier to win defamation claims in the UK. The fact that he lost there does not bode well for him.

+1. Everything about the UK case should have been easier for him to win. Clearer statement, much friendlier legal system, and he lost.

The UK suit was not against Amber. It was against the Sun and Dan Wootton who wrote the article. I read that this Judge Penney Azcarate didn't dismiss this year because in the UK not all of the evidence was allowed. Amber didn't have a proper discovery. Amber went to a dinner party thrown by the UK Judge's wife. Dan Wootton was classmates or a colleague of the Judge's son. The UK judge believed that Amber made her $7 million charitable donations to the ACLU and LA children's hospital. She didn't donate most of the money. Johnny Depp's team is working to prove the lies that were allowed last time.

You have ingested spin

I don't really think it matters if he wins. The truth should all get out. I'm sure she has all the witnesses to back up her stories lol

Why should the truth get out? They are divorced. Their marriage is over. Why should their private life be aired for everyone to see? I understand why the trial is happening but the whole thing makes both of them sound ridiculous and unhinged.

Is that what the therapist said during her testimony? To surreptitiously record?

I haven’t been following the trial closely, but can imagine someone who has felt threatened in the past, perhaps repeatedly, would attempt to document or even record abuse. Though I would think they would fear escalation for recording. I haven’t seen the tapes, is it obvious they were recording? Did both parties know?

I haven’t been following super closely (and I’m like the weeks being in Emily D Baker commentary) but it sounds like the audio recordings were mutually consented to by both of them as part of their couples counseling. Some of the video recordings seem less consensual.

I had to video myself speaking for a class in my MBA program, and it was major cringe! It was supposed to help us see our faults to be able to correct them and turned out to be an effective exercise. So similarly, it's probably helpful to see a video of yourself interacting with your spouse to help you see what you don't realize you are doing (non verbal) and saying (hearing it replayed). Kind of like an athlete watching game film. But man, that would be difficult.

I can't stand Joe Rogan but he's spot on. Disney would make billions pumping out a few more Jack Sparrow / Depp comeback movies.

I wish this trial were completed. Two weeks is about the length I can handle hearing about the chaos of someone else's life that has little impact on mine.

Joe Rogan should have stuck to supervising contestants eating cockroaches and cow hearts. Instead he has become some weird messiah to disaffected middle aged men everywhere and it's not a good scene.

Are you on the jury? How is this impacting you?

No, but there is just a lot of talk about how it will impact other divorce and abuse cases and how we will see more of this type of televised trial. I just don't think it's healthy to have so much of your life televised like this.

My MIL frequently records conversations, and she has the same diagnosis as the shrink on the stnad gave amber (borderline personality dosorder). She sometimes sends other people recordings of personal conversations she had with other people they know.

Agreed. I watched a couple hours and then could not watch again. Bleak, bleak stuff.
