Saying “Jack is on his way” would be an odd thing to say about a young teen. Jack is probably driving himself. |
From the link that was above: :0 through :20 and again at :45 though 1:00 and then again at 1:30 -- year 2030 (approximately) - the twins are about 12 years old and Tess is about 27. They're going to see "her" at Kevin's house. Randall says, "I'm going to go say hi. Where is -" and Beth says "he's already in there." There is a cut in the scene and we see Randall walk down a hallway. Safe to assume it's the same location/time though because he is wearing the same outfit. You can see the door ahead of him. It's a textured wall and you can see windows or glass to the left of the door. There are clear and obvious cuts to child Randall walking in a hospital to visit Rebecca including the him looking at an industrial-hospital style doorknob. At 2:03, you see adult Randall about to touch a doorknob. This door and the walls surrounding it do not look at all like the door we saw him walking towards in Kevin's house. I thought it was glass on the left of the door in Kevin's house but it appears they might be shelves or something (1:48) At 2:04, you see a hand touch an industrial-hospital style doorknob and open it, but it seems very clear that this is an adult man and Rebecca is on the inside of the room. But it's blurry. And at 2:10 it cuts to child Randall in Rebecca's hospital room. But watch 2:04 through 2:10 and it's very clear it was not child Randall who opened the door. And then at 2:14, Randall is in Rebecca's room, the door is open (and it looks like the doorknob from 2:03 to me, the horizontal lever type). It's definitely Rebecca because he says, "It's me, your son, Randall." Then cuts again to the kids visiting Rebecca in the hospital when they were about 10. Then you see Randall again, he looks at Nicky and says hi. It's the shot at 2:03 that makes no sense to me. Also, the shot at 2:04 where (what appears to be) adult Randall opens a hospital-type doorknob and (and what appears to be) Rebecca's room - why would Kevin's house have a doorknob like that? Doesn't make sense. So either the show screwed up, which is possible, or I think Rebecca is dying somewhere other than in Kevin's house. And everyone is gathered at Kevin's to see someone else -- a female, and some male is already in there with her (based on the Randall/Beth dialogue). The only women who could be in that room that Toby would come to see are: Kate (but she doesn't die because she's alive later), Madison, Hailey. And the men who could be in there with those women are: Phillip or Elijah. One more thing - we do see Kevin's twins in the room with Rebecca in a different clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs-NYjpjM7E) and they look to be the same age as the other scenes in the kitchen, etc. So if everyone is indeed gathered at Kevin's to see someone other than Rebecca, the Rebecca scenes take place close to the same time. So who knows? Probably just a show continuity error and I'm obsessing over nothing. |
That would be seriously deceptive, but possible. |

It would make sense with how old Kevin appears. |
Excellent and helpful summary. There’s no reason to have adult Randall opening that hospital door latch. It is not a continuity error. |
| I really hope one of these sequences is not a Randall dream, which is another option. |
| Randall does have nightmares when he is under stress, like after the intruder broke into his house. |
Except Jack is blind... |
I'm the poster who doesn't see it. I see at 2:06 a jump from little Randall reaching out to the hospital door to grown Randall 10 years from now opening the door in Kevin's house. It goes zooms in on little Randall's jacket and zooms out on grown Randall's jacket. And it looks like right before that, Randall turns a corner in Kevin's house, making the walls slightly different. |
Right, not possible as we speak. |
I see at 2:06 adult Randall open a hospital door - it pans up and shows it's an adult. There's no cut. You see the back of adult Randall and Rebecca in bed. Then it cuts and shows from Rebecca's POV child Randall. You are right that it could be the way they edited was to intend it to be child Randall opening the door and without a cut, pan up and suddenly it's adult Randall. But - I still maintain that the shot of adult Randall about to open the lever doorhandle (2:03) looks nothing like the door he is approaching (1:47). The walls are different, and there is a shelf or window to the left at the 1:47 door. |
It's like an optical illusion...you see what you see. Lol... I hear what you're saying; it's just not how I'm seeing it! We'll find out soon enough! I just wanted to understand the other POV, and since I probably won't get to watch it tonight, I won't go back into this thread once the new episode discussion begins! |
What kids that age want chalk? I’m thinking grandchildren. And Randall’s daughters do not look like to me they are in their 20’s, I’m thinking mud-30’s / early 40’s. |
