Seriously, how did we follow up Trump's disastrous 1st term with bumbling Biden and then commit the mind-boggling sin of electing Trump again? Bernie's stance against capitalism and money in politics ruffled too many feathers in a political landscape dominated by wealthy mega-donors. There is no way in hell the RNC or DNC would allow someone like Sanders to actually become a nominee. Regardless of whether you love or hate Bernie, we should all agree that he should have been given a fair chance.

Pissing off our wealthy mega-donors shouldn't be a factor that disqualifies a candidate.

This is ahistorical. All of the polling showed that Biden was the only primary candidate showing decisive wins over Trump while polling for Sanders and awards and Buttigieg etc. was much more iffy.

You keep saying anyone with a pulse could be Trump in 2020, but that was not what polling showed at the time. A lot of people were planning to sit out the election until Biden decided to run, which could have handed Trump the victory.

Anyone familiar with polling, why do Trump's approval numbers from the Economist/Yougov poll not match the actual result tables that they directly link to?

For instance, Real Clear Reporting reports 43% while the link table (and the separate topline table they also release) show 39%.

We must learn from our mistakes in order to prevent another Trump from happening in the future. Mistakes that aren't identified and acknowledged are likely to be repeated. Trump is going to be Trump and he'll hand the Dems another easy election victory in 2028 just as he did in 2020. Let's take that victory with an Obama or Clinton caliber of leader who will hold office for 8 years.

We must learn from our mistakes in order to prevent another Trump from happening in the future. Mistakes that aren't identified and acknowledged are likely to be repeated. Trump is going to be Trump and he'll hand the Dems another easy election victory in 2028 just as he did in 2020. Let's take that victory with an Obama or Clinton caliber of leader who will hold office for 8 years.

American citizens need a return to normalcy after enduring Trump 1st term, Biden, and now Trump 2nd term. Seriously, how did we follow up Trump's disastrous 1st term with bumbling Biden and then commit the mind-boggling sin of electing Trump again? At least Nixon was preceded and succeeded by fit for office presidents. I've never been more discouraged by the low intelligence of the American voters but I still love them, I reckon.

If Biden hadn't run, Trump would have had a second term and we would currently be in the middle of Trump's reign. At least now, we have a chance of getting out of this, but stop blaming Biden and the democrats.

It would have been nearly impossible for Trump to win a second term had the Dem's nominated a normal/fit candidate in 2020 who was capable of serving two terms. Anyone with a pulse could have beaten Trump and his 38% approval rating in 2020. Why nominate someone with a weak record of being popular outside of their home state and someone who wouldn't be viable four years down the road? Just to please the mega-donors is not a good excuse in my opinion.

I blame Sanders for Dems failures in 2016 and 2020. He created an environment which made it impossible for Dems to coalesce against a better candidate. I like some things Sanders does, especially his recent town halls, but if he absolutely a factor in Trump’s rise.

Bernie's stance against capitalism and money in politics ruffled too many feathers in a political landscape dominated by wealthy mega-donors. There is no way in hell the RNC or DNC would allow someone like Sanders to actually become a nominee. Regardless of whether you love or hate Bernie, we should all agree that he should have been given a fair chance.

Pissing off our wealthy mega-donors shouldn't be a factor that disqualifies a candidate.

The guy was allowed to run as a Dem despite being an Independent.

But let’s keep rehashing 2016 and 2020 pp. I agree that your constant shaking your fist at everyone else is so much better then the reality of Trump. I just wonder if it ever gets exhausting or if you will ever find something else to talk about. My order of hate is mega-donors 1st since money in politics will continue to be a problem after Trump is dead, Trump 2nd because he is the worst POTUS ever by far, and then Biden 3rd because he is the second worst POTUS ever and he delivered Trump 2nd term to us. I still love my fellow Americans who were duped into Trump and Biden but I do hope they've learned a lesson by now because we won't last much longer without any form of appropriate leadership.
