I am not on TikTok but a friend who is tells me that the whole platform has blown up with young people's love for Walz

He’s going to look very old next to Vance in a debate.

Of course Trump will look old next to Harris as well

We all understood the anti-Semitic barrage the Trump campaign was preparing to launch. It was obvious they thought stoking anti-Semitic sentiment would win them Michigan. We are all very happy those attacks aren’t going to happen now.

+1 plus I just don't think anyone is prepared for reopening the Gaza fury and furor. We have - and need - unity right now.

Shapiro isn't going anywhere.

When Walz gets into office, he's going to hang a tennis ball from the garage of the Naval Observatory to show how far you can pull the car in.

DP. I’m like you and I agree. Kelly would have been a much better choice to convince me. Now I’ll likely just not vote for president. First time since I’ve been eligible.

Rumors are that he failed vetting. IF that’s true, you wouldn’t have voted for him anyway and it would’ve sunk the ticket.

From what I heard it was more that Harris clashed with Kelly (and perhaps even Shapiro) as they are both more alpha types than Walz which I can definitely see. Also, remember...the VP doesn't really have any power...Kelly and Shapiro know that.

That being said...I wish it was Kelly who was the POTUS nominee and not Harris...all this gender crap about no more "white males" is really tiring. I don't care if the POTUS is male, female, jew, whatever....so long as their policies and social ideology align most with mine. Period.

I was hoping that Kelly might run for POTUS in 2028...but if that isn't likely....I almost want him to flip to R or I to run in 2028.

His stances would not make him viable in the republican party and if he ran as an I, he would split votes paving the way for the Republicans.

Why would he do that?

I disagree that he was a wrong pick. I'm not sold he is the best pick, only because I don't see him moving the needle, but we'll see.

I agree that this will be won by messaging and do far Harris/Walz has the edge with that.

The messaging with this pick is that she is as far left as republicans have been trying to paint her. As a moderate Dem, this pick is dismaying and feeds right into my perceptions of her from 2020. I can’t vote for Trump but not voting for this either.

Then be prepared to live in Gilead.

You would say that about any Democratic pick. I’m sorry the GOP went off the rails and became a cult of personality. The Dems just can’t become Regan republicans to attract you.

+1

And if PP is ok with Trump being elected then she really isn’t a Never Trumper.

You can say the same about the Dems - there's far left and radical left. There are no moderates left. Harris will rebrand herself in an attempt to erase her embarrassing history as a public servant. She chose Walz who appears to be a moderate - sticking close to Israel while embracing Harris' platform.

I voted for Trump the second time. I will not vote for either this time, as I recognize that both parties are two sides of the same coin. I wish more people would see that. There is ONE agenda. And either side will eventually get us there. We are living under the illusion of choice.

I would argue that Schumer, Biden and Jefferies, to name 3, are moderates.

And in 2016 you voted for TFG because you just couldn't get behind Hillary, and now you're not sure why people make such a big deal about January 6 or classified documents, but you're not going to stand for burning buildings because the police murdered a guy.

Actually no. I supported and voted for Hillary.

I just don’t get why so many posters here think insulting independents like me is a good idea.

DP. You're seeing these responses because your reaction to the Walz pick doesn't make any rational sense. By any objective measure of his political record, he is solidly moderate, and to the right of most of the party.

So, some people are understandably going to jump to the conclusion that you're lying. Or, perhaps you're just ignorant of Walz's record. Or maybe your political views have changed over the last decade.

My guess is a combination. I know the progressive wing of the democratic party has turned off some moderate voters, and in the process have driven them to poor news sources like Fox News. If that happened to you, then you've probably been seeing an incredibly biases and inaccurate portrayal of Walz's record, and might not realize just how moderate he really is.

Regardless, if you really know his record and still think he's "far left," then your political views have shifted substantially.

He doesn't expand the base; he appeals to people who would have voted for Harris anyway.

He does actually expand the coalition. There are plenty of midwestern semi-rural and suburban whites who might be wavering but will listen to his roots story and realize he is just like them, but settled on the left side of the coin. Struggling farmers for example, who are not sways by the racial and other current GOP BS. The people that both Hillary and Walz has said that government has left them behind, In Minnesota, they are not left behind anymore. He can reach those people.

My family in IA were not going to vote Harris but love this guy and are in board now.

These purity people are repellent. Anyone who both sides these two pairs of candidates is not in their right mind.

White people who live outside the DCUM bubble like to wear camouflage. That’s pretty much it.

Coach Walz loves maps! I myself am a cargo sorts wearing, all-weather grilling, Midwestern dad, high school football fan, and map-nerd. It's like this guy was grown in a lab to appeal to me.
