That’s not the guy that went to FCV. I think the one you are referencing is the guy that was recently relived of his position at Valor.

They are still tin cupping for players on their lowest teams with no coach. Its again laughable.

They look to have hired outside 'help' to recruit suckers to join the bottom teams. Got a message from a guy on their behalf trying to recruit my kid. Said no real quick.

I have not yet reviewed all 110 pages of this thread, and if this topic has already been covered, I apologize for the redundancy. Could someone please explain the process of dual rostering with NVA? Given that this was mentioned during tryouts, should we have a reasonable expectation of it being implemented? Although I do not believe my son is currently at the required skill level, we were informed that he might be considered for selection. Either way we are staying with Valor.

So from my understanding and this is just how it was briefly explained to us when we were considering staying with Valor . Parents are noticing that there is really a lack of alliance. NVA is basically Loudoun kids. So what they’ve started implementing is this dual roster. Basically you stay with your Valor team and you might have one practice with NVA a week or so if you’re invited to it. You’re not guaranteed playtime on a field and maybe your kid might play a couple minutes of one game. I think throwing out this term of dual roster has made a significant number of families happy but at the end of the day unless your kid is on the NVA team, your child will probably just be there as an extra.

DRs have always existed in ECNL. They again mostly Loudoun kids. The Valor coaches have little say. I know valor coach who has been consistently trying to get our kids looked at ….but is ignored. PE is the one who needs to bring the hammer down on this. Its either an alliance or not. The roster should consist of few valor kids per age group. But it never will… it appears this farce is convincing famlies come to valor.

What’s in it for loudoun? I’m
Surprised they even agreed to the marketing tactic.

It's less competition by keeping Valor small and preventing them from aligning with another club. It's also a bigger pool of players to choose from, even if they don't utilize it. LS controls ECNL for Loudoun County.

Really reaching and scraping at the uninformed. If successful, I feel sorry for those parents, but not for those who end up staying again for the same low-level teams.

Is anyones dc playing for a TBD coach?

Did the club announce to the parents at tryouts that were was no coach or inform you when they sent the team offer?

Has there been communication from Valor management apologizing for their failure to hire the coach prior to the tryout?

Are they waiving the deposit until a coach can be hired so parents know what they are paying for?

These are the things a non-profit org would do that was interested in the well-being of the players and player development. However, Valor is run like a business and all decisions are made from a profitability/marketing point of view. So the answer is no to all of them. The offers were generic and just contained the team name without listing the nonexistent coach.

It’s not a failure to hire a coach. It’s a deliberate decision not to hire one unless they can fill that team. Note that all the TBD coaches are for the lowest level for that age group. Other clubs do the same thing.

No idea how that is typically handled; agree that communication should be honest and open about it. But if you don’t like how it’s being handled or are not ok with the cost for a TBD coach, vote with your feet! Go to a club where there is a named coach for the team. If your DC can’t get an offer for such a team, maybe that’s a sign that travel soccer is not the right path.

I agree with pp that it's fine if Valor announces at tryouts and the offer letter that there is no coach, the team will be selected by Valor admin, and a coach will only be hired if they get X number of players who plunk down a $400 deposit. People can make that gamble or not.
No one with a better option is taking a spot on a Valor "Coach Coming Soon" team anyway.

(Doesn't sound like they were being honest with people though.)

I'm sure the business owners are laughing their butts off right now.
