GFR Falling apart?

Dear Great Falls Reston Families,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to you today to formally introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Great Falls Reston Soccer Club (GFR). I am incredibly excited to be here and honored to have the opportunity to lead this club into its next phase of growth and development.

As we look toward the future, my vision for GFR is built upon three core pillars:
Provide a high-quality experience for our players at all levels.
Strong operations that allow our families and coaching staff to focus on the game.
Foster a positive, enjoyable environment for staff.

To me, a club’s success is measured by the environment it creates. My vision is to ensure GFR stands as a model of both player development and operational integrity. By streamlining our operations and fostering a positive culture for our staff, we create the stability necessary for our players to truly thrive. Together, we will ensure that every GFR player benefits from a high-quality experience.

On behalf of the entire Great Falls Reston Staff and Board of Directors, we deeply appreciate your continued support and loyalty. I look forward to seeing you on the field.

Sincerely,

Paula Abbate
Executive Director
Great Falls Reston Soccer Club

Well, that's actually not terribly surprising. Most of the old FCV coaches are there now and NE, who did NOT like GD at all (mutual), is now gone.

Good luck to her. I hope someone gifts her a big, ol’ broom this holiday season …there is a LOT of house cleaning to get done!

Not sure who is being referred to here but I’d love to see more/new coaches for the older teams, especially the girls. Some of them have only ever played for FA and GD so they are lacking technical skills. My DD suffered from this so we moved her to another club but I have a younger daughter I’d love to have stay at GFR if that coaching was better. I don’t know much about the boys side

glad to see GFR is offering USL-Y again this year! our girls had so much fun doing it this year and we were worried PA might not continue it if GD was/is gone from GFR! YAY!

Yep, they just posted this :

Please join us in welcoming Coach Gus Donolo to the VRSC/LUFC family.

Hailing from Brazil, Gus brings a wealth of experience, passion, and a deep understanding of the game. He will be joining our Girls Academy coaching staff and will also be leading our USL Youth League.

We’re excited to have Gus on board and can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make within our club and player pathway. Welcome, Gus!

My daughter played for him for several years. He's a raging a'hole. Uses derogatory language, speaks poorly about the girls to one another, trashes anyone who leaves his team. He runs "Club Gus" and is not a team player with other coaches. Took my daughter a few months to get her confidence back after he took hers completely away from her. If you're one of his favorites it isn't quite as bad but his favorites change often so you're never safe.

+1000 - RS put up with him for some reason but i think NM has put a stop to a lot of his antics.

This was exactly experience when GD was my kids coach years ago too. Luckily she was a "favorite" until we didn't pay "Club Gus" anymore because of our work conflicts, and suddenly playing time dropped off the cliff.

Yeah well he’s gone several years too late in my opinion - did a lot of damage to many girls and teams at gfr
