CCL extincting

All the teams can be awarded 3-0 wins when a team forfeits. The club’s scorekeeper just needs to let CCL know to enter it. My guess is the clubs that didn’t get the points thought it’s automatic but it’s not. I’m a team manager on a CCL team and confirmed this for my own team.

There must be a major communication break down then between some clubs and the league when it comes to reporting scores to the table. Sometimes it's 3 or 4 weeks before they'll post some games. Sometimes never as in the case with these forfeits. Not that this is a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I think it shows lack of follow through.

As a CCL parent, this actually is what bugs me the most. It shows that the league really doesn't care about running a decent operation. It may be the club's responsibility to report scores, but if anyone at the league cared, they do something about it. As it is, they just say, "ho hum" and go about their day (probably thinking it means less work for them). If a league can't even collect and post scores and standings, what is even the point? It's glorified rec.

I don't understand why they let WVFC into CCL. I actually feel bad for them though. They have to travel to every game, because CCL said in order to be in the league that existing teams wouldn't have to travel to their home fields in WV. You think driving to VB is bad, how about driving from Charleston, WV to NOVA or VB for a game? They do some meeting in the middle which I think is a good compromise for WV, but then neither team gets a home game and just adds more travel weekends for everyone. Charleston, WV is closer to Columbus, OH and Pittsburgh than most CCL club locations.

I wish it were true. My ds has to leave cc1 because it just want very competitive. NPL was better and now he’s in ECNL and it’s a match

Being someone who has coached boys in both league you don’t know what you are talking about. CCL1 for boys is the most competitive of all the leagues. Can say anything for girls, but if you have a boy you want them in CCL. CCL2 teams are a crap shoot.

With the loss of Loudoun, Legacy and Fredericksburg, VPSL is now more even with CCL. On the boys side, the current U19 Richmond Strikers (VPSL) tied FC Richmond when they were U16 and U17 ages (didn't play this year). I think FC Richmond's U18s won the CCL. Bottom half of VPSL on the boys side seems very weak though.

Not sure what you are talking about- DD’s team traveled to their fields in the Fall for a CCL game. Long drive, but better than driving down 95 and hoping there are no accidents

Our CCL team beat the #2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 placed teams in VPL this past fall in various tournaments. Didn't play the #1 team, but will admit they did beat us last year. We are not the top team in our age group and not in NOVA. Not sure why everyone shits on the CCL, but we also beat FC Richmond, Legacy, and Fredricksburg in the fall, so not sure how they will make ECNL-R a stronger league.

As a former coach I’m surprised you think CCL is more competitive than ECNL. Did you coach for Loudoun?

Loudoun is garbage. As in Toxic and ass-licking environment full of corruption across the board organization wise and an absolute scam and mockery of a soccer club.

We joke with our community when calendars are out. We circle the game against Loudoun in green marker because +3 guaranteed in the bag against that trash

Is CCL on the verge of a collapse? With Fredericksburg, Legacy, Loudoun & SOCA/Skyline leaving and rumors of others going as well, is CCL a viable league? With tryouts coming up, we need to make a decision about clubs based on the competitive of leagues. With the clubs that have left, there is a huge void in the strength of schedule. I will guess that McLean will be pulling from CCL II and place their teams in ECNL-R. What is happening with the other larger clubs, such as SYC and Alexandria?

The landscape has changed a lot this spring and looks like CCL may take the place of the now defunct ODSL, only having a club based model, with NCSL & EDP getting a spike in business.

There is still, what, 14 teams? I don't think anyone has to worry about CCL collapsing and there won't be a season next year like ODSL. A few years from now, who knows. Things weren't looking good for VPL, down to 10 teams and was about to be 9 with CYA leaving. However, now they are looking strong. So in youth soccer, the only constant is change.

McLean has already said Green teams will be in CCL 1. Don’t understand why they won’t do ECNL-R for Green teams.

The talent isn't there to put on that level. Things change year to year but this current crop of green isn't up to that level.

I think this I where ccl failed by making it club based. The area is oversaturated so much with clubs . Theres more clubs than talent to honestly to think any one club can constantly develop and turn out talent like lets say for example the way Bocca Juniors does is impossible in this market.

CCL has been extremely quiet on social media. They used to post multiple times daily but don't any longer. Last post was was 2+ weeks ago. Think they're in the war room discussing a way forward without the big guns?
