I like her natural look. She looks athletic. But - what is that outfit?!

Some of you have been upset she hasn’t worn a blazer. So here she is in a blazer and a blouse. What’s wrong with it?

It appears to be ill fitting, the neck flounce is insipid and lavender is not her color.

It’s so weird how all my Catholic friends are exactly the same. The mouse brown hair straightened hair with wispiness/flyaways , the wrinkles around the eyes/lips/nose/brow, the jawline, the moles, the nude pink lip stain, the micro blade eyebrows, the Catholic school uniform.

I mean... you are describing American Catholics of Irish descent.

Pelosi regularly wears dresses as her work uniform.

^ I disagree. She is clearly extremely smart and articulate. The ABA rated her “well qualified.”’ People have different opinions about abortion - obviously. No everyone agrees that it should be a woman’s choice. To suggest that ACB is just a puppet for the conservatives is insulting and totally minimizes the accomplishments of another woman, even if you disagree with her views. You weaken your own position by refusing to recognize her intelligence, because you are denying an objective fact. I have listened to the hearings and am impressed by ACB. FWIW, I’m also voting for Biden.

I think she looks appropriate— which is all she needs to do. I disagree with people who say that she should wear a suit. She’s already been nominated for the top-est of top jobs. She doesn’t need an old school suit to impress anyone with her seriousness. ( That’s for lower level folks who are reaching out for a job — not someone who was actively sought out and nominated. ) I think she’s dressing, in part, to play up her creds as a non-threatening, womanly Mom — without dressing in a way that would detract from her presentation as a professional.

I’m just waiting for Robin Givhan to gift is with her magic on this.

It's this. PP talking about wearing suits are missing that she's dressing for a different audience and different purpose -- she's not trying to display professional gravitas but rather ideological purity. Taken in that context her clothing is perfectly appropriate.

It's def an improvement - but the overall outfit gives the sense of a work from home day where she tossed a blazer over a t-shirt for a Zoom call.

I dunno. It's better than the Trump hoochie look. She looks pretty earthy like this. It just doesn't seem like what you wear to your mfin Supreme Court confirmation hearing.

Anyway, maybe she just irks me and that's why even her stupid boring normal clothes irk me. There's a touch of Elizabeth Warren style in what she wears - Christian midwesterner, maybe? - and I love it on Warren, so maybe it is that.

I wonder if it's mismatched persona. Warren's uniform is cerebral-policy-wonk-who-dresses-in-function-over-fashion which is very much at odds with ABC's persona. Her persona is more Catholic-mom-groomed-by-the-Federalist-Society-since-law-school-to-sit-on-the-bench.

Her black mask in the pic on page one looks so much like a muzzle I am bothered by it. The rest is fine.

I disagree with her politically but on a superficial level I think she's attractive and her clothing has been very appropriate. Laura Linney could play her if they were doing a movie or TV version. She looks like she could be Laura Linney's sister or cousin.

Yes. Laura Linney!

If her views weren't so repulsive to me, I could celebrate more that she isn't obviously botoxed or fillered-up and attractive without buying into all that stuff.

If I wore one of those dresses to an argument in front of the 7th circuit or supreme court, everyone, including ACB, would view me as inappropriately dressed for the occasion. On that standard, I think these dresses are inappropriate. They would be fine if it waa a hearing for undersecretary of HHS, or an ABA conference. I’d say the same about pelosi’s dresses (which are also better dresses).
