The Amy Coney Barrett fashion thread

Thanks to the PP who identified the dress. I liked it and was not familiar with the brand. Is it online only or is it sold IRL anywhere around DC?

I guess if I had to choose between a somewhat too informal Handmaids-reminiscent dress and Trump-like skankwear, I'd choose the former. I still think that a suit - or something that looked just a little less machine washable - would have been good for the confirmation hearing.

Love the dress. I am not a fan of her conservatism, but I think she always looks really nice.

Yes. But I spilled beer on that thread.

Nicely done. Seriously, though, I'm no fan of either Kavanaugh or Barrett (or any other FedSoc types), and I love fashion, but, this thread is a great example of how women undermine each other.

I have the same dress (from the Fold), plus 10+ more from the same brand. Their dresses are usually made out of wool; they are super comfortable (and warm) for the fall/winter.

My female judge had a very strict "suits in chambers" rule, so I admit I am a traditionalist. But I would not wear a dress like this to Court or to a Senate hearing of this nature.

I think it’s obvious by now that Trump doesn’t like women in his orbit to wear suits.

The Fold has nice dresses made with decent fabrics like wool crepe. They also are cleverly cut with details that take the eye away from potential problem areas.

She always looks very professional and classy.

I don't agree that she should have worn a suit. I think it's very appropriate and I don't think there is a need for any woman to wear a suit any more. It's an outdated idea that says suits - i.e. what men wear - are more appropriate for formal events. Women's formal wear can be different, and a formal dress is appropriate.

This. All the people mentioning the Handmaid's Tale are reaching so hard they're going to pull a muscle. Either that, or their monitors are distorting the color.

Yes she’s trolling the left.

Typhoid Mary dressing like a handmaiden .

She will destroy us.

It's close enough that more than one of us saw it.

Look, I dislike her views as much as all of you but given that the dress she’s wearing is a completely different color to the handmaid’s dress, it feels like if she’d worn any block color you guys would have drawn this parallel. If she’d worn blue you would have said she’s channeling the wives. If she’d worn brown you’d have said she was being like Aunt Lydia, etc. It’s... just a purple dress.

To be honest when I saw this thread title I though "hmm. what fashion?
and I say that as someone who likes the way she dresses and also dresses in very basic, conservative dresses.
