Lol. Especially Cruz. |

I have a Cuban friend who is even whiter than my pasty white skin color.
|
Event manager at a Las Vegas Hotel is a big step up from a hotel in the Redneck Riviera, and maybe she had enough of being Gaetz’s “non-white“ arm candy. |
| But left her brother there? Hmmm |

As a gay male, this story is a bit troublesome because we as a community have had to fight for years against stereotypes that we cannot have platonic or paternalistic relationships with other men and that everything we do has sex as an ulterior motive. Some of this goes back to old stereotypes that we as gays are out to recruit straight men because we cannot reproduce. That's a false belief but it's still believed by many people, especially when the friend/mentee/son/"son" has certain characteristics, or dare I say good looks.
That being said, if I'm keeping it real, there is a subculture of gay men who seek out these sort of dad/son relationships and sometimes (maybe oftentimes) they are sexual. As much as I want to rally against judgments and stereotypes, I concede that some of the assumptions people are making could be accurate. I may have a hunch but I'm not going to pass judgment on someone's motives based on some social media posts. |
She didn't leave her brother with Gaetz. Nestor went to live with his biological father in the Miami area. |
| The sister has arrest records and DUIs too. This is all very weird. |
The only charge I’ve seen against her is failure to appear for a misdemeanor offense, so you should back off. |

This is literally a storyline from this season's Showtime series "Billions." The main actor, a filthy rich Wall Street guy, pretends to mentor some poor black inner-city kid to use as a media prop. He ends up buying the kid and his mom a suburban house in Scarsdale so they keep quiet about the fake arrangement.
Did Gaetz pay for this kid's sister to go to FSU? Is Gaetz paying for Ernesto to go to college? Is Ernesto going to cheap state school or pricy private college? How did a 40 year old bachelor who lives in Washington half the year "raise" a teenager who was going to high school in Florida full-time? And sorry, his sister isn't some bombshell. I find it hard to believe Gaetz was so in love with her, then she dumped him, moved to Las Vegas, and Gaetz kept her little brother. I also don't believe it's a gay thing, either. He'd really risk his life, wealth and career to get it on with some Cuban teen? I doubt it, but who knows. |

I don’t think it is necessarily a DL gay/grooming relationship. It seems like it would be difficult to completely hide something like that for a decade when you are big fish in small town. There are much easier ways to be a closeted gay politician than going through all of this. The incentive to “MeToo” a controversial politician with many, many enemies would be irresistible.
Given that Gaetz is royalty in the panhandle, and his family is rich, it’s possible that this is a legit attempt at nobles oblige by a wealthy family. It’s not unusual for rich guys to have paternalistic (in the socio-political sense) relationships with people from poorer backgrounds. Think Kato Kaelin. |

Remember when Republicans questioned Valerie Jarrett’s relationship to the Obamas and everyone freaked out?
I do |
Of course rich do things like this, but that's not what Gaetz claimed. And Gaetz didn't claim this was some "Big Brother, Big Sister" I see the kid sometimes on the weekend sort of thing and I let him borrow my car for prom, either. He said he's basically this teen's dad, raising him for 8 years. If it's really just Matt's filthy rich parents being charitable, fine. But that's not in any way how Gaetz characterized the relationship. Is it true this kid is good at sports? Maybe they were hoping he'd be a soccer or baseball prodigy, a recruited ace at the local high school or college the Gaetz funneled him to? I've seen that too. We're "charitable ... it just happens the African boys we adopted are 7 feet tall and are going to play on our real son's basketball team this winter." |
I refer you to "The Encyclopedia of Politicians Who Couldn't Keep It in Their Pants," Volume 153, Chapter 45, Page 629: Weiner, Anthony |
| No way a single guy with a DWI would be allowed to adopt a child. |
His family political connections and $$, in that local backwater area, are more than sufficient for him to have engaged in these ... actions. |
