DC told me they were asked to indicate if they were not interested, somewhat interested or very interested in attending those schools. Separate answers for TPMS and Eastern. I think it may have been a 5 point scale. I'm not sure how much they took that into account if at all. It was worded in such a way that kids like DC were like why would I want to go to another school other than my home school? |

My DC was waitlisted for both Takoma and Eastern. Raw scores were V60, Q52, NV46. In a high SES, W feeder elementary school. Results came in a windowed envelope. We weren't going to accept even if admitted so oh well. But interesting to see DC's verbal is one of the higher ones I've seen reported and still waitlisted. Though I'm not sure how DC answered the question about humanities vs. science interest.
Good luck to everyone! |
And did your child get in? |
Boy. White (although I don't think that is known by the panel) |
Same. Careful who you stick up for. They're just trolling here to find out if your friend's DC will get in with lower stats. |
I am really surprised your child was waitlisted! Those are fantastic scores. Can I ask which elementary school? |
PP here: got the letter just now. Accepted to both. All 99 MCPS percentiles too. Other metrics: fall map-r 239, map-m 277, straight A, 5s on PARCC, w-school, Asian, boy, current CES. |
| When is the acceptance deadline? |
Feb 7 |
Yes, but within the TPMS boundary odds aren't as crazy. I honestly think they could use a couple more MS magnets like this given the demand and number of qualified kids. |
Your scores are in the MyMCPS parent portal if your student took cogAT for GT identification, but I"m not sure when you get more information about that, in the past it wasn't until June. |
and now to decide where to go |
| PP with DS who got into both where will your child go? |
I'm pretty sure these questions are part of the "non scored" portion of the test. I was told they use the student preferences as a way to help guage interest and determine how many students to invite - they invite over the 100 seats at each of the 4 programs (one of each program downcounty and upcounty) knowing that some students have a choice between two. If they know more students put Math Science Computer Science first, they probably invite a few more to the Humanities programs. |

You guys got me all freaked out about this. I should know to NEVER rely on DCUM for advice or to trust what I read.
Here’s my reality check with real scores: Cogat National 99V, 98Q, 99NV Cogat MCPS, 96V, 93Q, 95NV MAP math 240s, MAP reading 230s All As High 5 on PARCC math, high 4 on PARCC ELA Recommended for TPMS, wait pool at Eastern School with moderate poverty rate. No prepping for tests. |
