PP—How do you explain Hannah and Colin choosing to live with Jon? And Colin’s now-public letter to Jon about wanting to escape the facility where Kate had him locked up? |
I think the crazy PP must be Kate. Nobody else could defend such appalling behavior by Kate. |
Hannah refused to leave her father after visitation and he filed for custody. He had done multiple court filings to find out where Colin is and eventually he was told and he filed for custody and got it. Jon was not told where Collin was or allowed to visit. I question any facility who doesn't do family therapy with both parents and try to keep parents involved. This child was dropped off for several years and basically abandoned by his mother and hidden from his father. |
He did not walk away. He was only allowed limited visitation. That is not walking away. The kids were told he walked away but he fought in court for many years and kept losing. Kate had the show pay her attorney so she had unlimited funds. He did not. It was clearly parental alienation. She was physically and mentally abusive to the kids. If the court orders visitation, you send them. Visitation isn't an option. |
Tight budget? TLC funded EVERYTHING. Date night, outing with the kids, everything! If TLC didnt pay, they didnt go. |
Jon just needs to stay the course. Over time the other sextuplets will come around. I don't know about the twins. They seem really close to Kate and I have no doubt there are repercussions from Kate towards any kids who want to spend time with Jon or show any positive feelings towards Jon.
Glad to see Hannah and Collin getting to have a normal, stable adolescence. |

Kate was feeding and clothing her children on her income from TLC. She couldn't afford to be replacing items that got carelessly ruined. And, of course, there was a reason she was doing the reality t.v. show - it paid the family's bills and made their lives easier. She had 8 kids to support, that is why they did the show. It's not like she could have just gone back to work as a nurse and supported her large family on that salary. The second guessing being done is unreal. None of us have been in her shoes and if we were I'll bet that we would have chosen TLC over the likes of Jon. |
Yeah, no one has ever raised a large family without reality TV. I mean, how unrealistic! #hikate |
She could have kept her regular job. To expect 3 year olds never to get clothing dirty is absurd. Yes, she could have supported a large family on it. She didn't want to. I would choose my kids and children's father any day over a TV show. That is such a horrible life for those kids. |
Most people would never even have the option of a reality TV show. Kate did and that is the option she went with. That show was her family's bread and butter for years. They ALL got all sorts of perks from doing the show, it's not like their lives would have been better if they had stayed stuck in a too small house and never traveled anywhere. |
Or she's paying people to defend her. Even on the original show back in the day, it's clear she was batsh!t insane. |
Their family would have been much better if they stayed in the small house, lived within their means and were a "normal" family instead of a tv show. Money isn't as important as family and the kids having a good childhood. |
I'm surprised that John didn't end up with custody of Maddie she seemed to be the black sheep of the family and Kate hated her on the show |
Every time I hear stories about reality show families I just think about how remarkably prescient the Truman Show was. the only thing is you don't need to create this elaborate expensive set to exploit a child, first it was this low rent cable network and now you have any idiot with a video camera trying to become famous on YouTube.
There's absolutely no amount of money in the world I would ever let me give up my privacy or my child's privacy. |
