Why is kate Middleton considered “classy” and Meghan Markle is not?

It is not hypocritical for MM to try to help sex workers despite marrying someone who has an uncle that has perhaps participated in trafficking. Harry is not his uncle. What is incredibly hypocritical is how the british media treat MM vs PA. Look at the Daily Mail UK home right now. Front and center is coverage of MM and PH's summer holidays and use of private jet. No mention of how PW and KM also took summer vacations on private jets of course. OR how PA took a private jet to Spain last week to emotionally cope with the Epstein coverage. But the biggest splashiest headline is all about MM and PH taking a vacation.

Buried down far after the fold is the Epstein story and under THAT is a SUB HEADLINE about how PA was just led astray by the mean man everyone warned him against.

How would you and the british media be acting if MM had ties to a child sex trafficker?

That double standard is racism. The face that you are searching for MM's hypocrisy here instead of talking about how appalled you are that the british media has been DEAD SILENT on this PA association for the last week and is only now writing fluffy defense people means that MM is not the hypocrite, YOU are. And yes, I think a racist one to boot.

MM has donated her time to help sex workers. She has not been covering for Andrew for a decade. Good for her.

+1

This is well said. Honestly it's pretty appalling how the big news in the UK press is that MM took a private jet, while the Prince Andrew story is getting buried (oh, and in addition to alleged pedophilia, he took a private jet too).

I agree that I have a hard time figuring out why other than racism. I mean, burying allegations of pedophilia? That is disgusting.

Why racism? Why not classicism? Prejudice against foreigners (Americans)? Dislike of her background (divorced actress)? Dislike of the new person in the family?

Why why why must every thing be about race? She identifies as biracial but looking at her I would never guess she’s anything but Caucasian. I personally think she’s the new kid on the block and getting initiated through fire by the press just like fergie and Kate were.

Occam's razor. Racism is the most likely candidate given the history of the UK press.

That's fine.

Call me a racist.

Call me an a** for not dealing with sex workers even though I deal with children who are abused.

b/c clearly those who work with sex workers have a more important job than mine

Think whatever the hell you want.

MM is rich.
MM is entitled.
MM has an uncle by marriage who's a pedophile.
MM is part of a family that will go to great lengths to protect the pedo.
MM knew exactly what she was getting herself into - a life of looking good and pretending to have a real job while those of use who TRULY work with abused people get crapped on in this thread.

talk about F-ed up

And yet, anyone who doesn't like MM is a racist.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt call you an ahole but hey if the shoe fits!

Its stories like this that make me think the british distaste for her is racist (along with 100s of years of colonialism and white people marrying white people): https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/amp14481097/princess-michael-of-kent-racist-brooch/

And people like you denying there are any racial undertones to.the megan dislike which seems like a willful ignorance of what's happening in front of you that make me think specific posters are racist

Americans are among the most racist people on earth, so they assume everyone else is the same.

It's their favorite sport, right after hitting each other in the head while playing what they call "football".

You still see blackamoor jewelry all over Venice- in Europe it is basically a fetishized Arab or exotic dark person. It’s racist to us now and especially in America because of our history of fetishized African American images- i imagine it’s different in Europe where the stain of slavery has had less of an impact on the historical and cultural climate.

But I guess it’s easier to say racism is the root cause of all the animosity to MM, not for example... that she’s American.

Anyway - her nutter stans have the racism banner to wave in response to any, even slight criticism of MM- and how can anyone refute that. Fine- I’m a racist. Never mind that I’m not white, that I have reservations about other royal family members, or anything else- you win- happy?

Always an elaborate excuse. Tell me again why you're on here complaining about mm while not seeming to care about the 8th in line to the throne videotaped inside a pedophiles mansions?

She's so much grosser and more reprehensible than Andrew why?

I'm not a huge fan, but I've followed the way she's been covered by the British media and been disgusted. Disgust amplified in recent weeks when the juxtaposition to the Andrew story makes it so clear.

It’s not racism. I just genuinely think that Harry made a huge mistake marrying an older, American woman who has clearly been around the block and is an attention seeker and social climber. Their whole marriage feels off, and Meghan Markle is bringing the royal family down. She should be much classier in being royal, but she isn’t. She does not need to hang out with celebrities, she is supposed to be above them. Plus everything happened too fast with her, the whole engagement, wedding, baby. And she just doesn’t fit in. I just don’t like her and a lot of us never will. Harry made a wrong choice, and Meghan is now going to be the thorn in everyone’s side and bring it all down. She’s too much, too soon. A wanna be Princess Diana, (and Meghan is just a duchess, not a princess) who will never reach that level of respect or love that Diana had. Meghan has no humility anymore. Plusher father’s family is basically white trash, which I can not stand. She’s too California Hollywood, and not enough sophistication. She’s all greed. And I even question her intelligence, especially after the gaff of writing empowering messages on bananas being packed in lunch bags for recovering sex workers. I wish Harry would wake up and divorce her soo er, rather than later.

I'm not the one in this thread who decided to blame MM for the years of Andrew coverup. I'm not the one who called her a hypocrite and seemed to have more angry words for her than for him. I have nothing to prove. I've said very clearly what I think of Andrew in this thread. You've said just as much with what you haven't said.

Also the whole "I'm a poc so i cant be a bigot" is a ridiculous logically flawed argument.

You’re responding to multiple people... however your knee jerk racism call to every critique of MM is a simplistic and inaccurate response. But keep up the good work - maybe some day you can be president of the MM fan club.

I am not a huge MM fan but I think the press coverage of her is ridiculous. It's just particularly interesting this week because the criticism of her seems so absurd in the face of Prince Andrew's actions.

And as evidenced with anyone with sense and knowledge of how society and ppl work can see the racism. Only those who tell themselves racism doesn’t exist or haven’t encountered actual racism scream like you and other posters that this can’t be the case. Keep living in that wonderful bubble. I wish my world view could be as jaded as yours and others. Unfortunately, growing up in the real world and experiencing it has actually opened my eyes.
