Did we decide if it’s the ugliest campus ever?

I don't understand the conversation police in on-line forums--in real life conversations the most boring ones are the ones where people answer your questions to the point and never divert from the topic.

You saw that post as conversation police? Awful early to be drinking.

This has got to be one of the most worthless posts ever on DCUM

Agreed. Sorry you wrote it.

I still want to know what "industrial area around the campus" the op was thinking of.

Hideous campus.

What are you talking about? The Hylton Center is at Mason's second campus in Prince William County, not their main campus in Fairfax. If you don't even know what you are touring, please don't make such negative comments. The Mason Farifax campus is very nice.

It didn’t diminish the quality of my education in the slightest. I think GMU is very pretty and its relative newness goes in the pro column for our DC.

William and Mary still has work to do with its new campus, but there have been significant renovations and improvements. Morton Hall, however....

Morton Hall is supposed to get the wrecking ball, but I'll believe it when I see it. UVA is knocking down U-Hall. It looked about ready to fall down last time I walked by. GMU actually did a pretty good job pulling its library into the 21st century.

It's not aesthetically pretty, but it's far from the ugliest.

MIT 4 year graduation rate is below UVA and W&M, but it has much higher standardized test scores. 5 and 6 years rise quite a bit. https://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/massachusetts-institute-of-technology/academic-life/graduation-and-retention

A number of the hard-science and engineering majors also do co-op programs and internships, which can add a semester or two to degree completion. I had few friends who did a semester internships that led to job offers before graduation, but they were also on the 4.5- or 5-year plan to graduate due to the time they took to work.

The architecture program at VT is also a five-year program from the point you're accepted, and tends to lower their four-year numbers.

Agreed. We have seen far worse - UMBC, York College.

What a weird thread. GMU is certainly not a traditionally beautiful campus, but it's hardly ugly. Are you just intentionally wanting to talk smack about GMU?

Folks, we have a winner. Yes, the OP is just the usual GMU hater. Nothing new to see here. And I agree, GMU is far from ugly. It's actually quite nice looking, IMO.
