BRYC Girls TD Larry Best leaving for Washington Spirit

Also it is worth going back to the first post on this thread. Larry is still very much committed to BRYC, working with the higher ups at the club,

Your post is excessively defensive and hostile. You don't need to feel threatened if people speculate over the potential implications of legitimate news.

I think you meant "legitimate rumors". But your point stands.

Burke and Best aren't rumors; they are news. BIG news.

So what? That doesn't legitimize any of the made up crap posted in this thread. Stop blowing smoke.

Listen my under-medicated friend, there are multiple posters on this thread. It may be confusing for you, but don't lump us all together.

Personally, I take each post on its own. Find whatever method you want, but chill out.

The problem with this thread is clearly not too little medication, rather too much. And I use the term “medication” very loosely when I say that.

So what rumors, if any, do believe likely to happen?

There’s no reason to believe that if Spirit decides to withdraw that they will not let everyone know within a reasonable timeframe to allow the players to find other places to play. Not to do so is in no one’s interest. Spirit derives a lot of revenue and fills a lot of seats with their DA members. It would be the worst kind of business move to spite them and a death knell to Larry’s tenure to start off on that foot. Which is why speculation along those lines is outlandish, to put it mildly.

Spirit VA will shutdown this summer or next.

It can't be next year. Nobody would sign up for that.

In fact all of the uncertainty regarding the DA would basically drive people out of and away from the club ensuring that it has to shut down next year anyway.

Any good business owner will look to cut the cost of operations in order to maximize profit. The cost of fields at evergreen are a big operational expense.

FCV does not own fields. The county clubs have them all on lock. That's why Evergreen Sports Complex is so important to the club....but it comes with a cost. People truly underestimate the how important fields are.

Spirit doesn't own fields either. That is why the GFR partnership exists primarily.

Yes, someone on here's dream with no basis in fact. US Soccer supports the NWSL clubs and DAs, so really not much to this garbage other than "but Larry is from BRYC" and "but they hired a former FCV coach!"

Please.....Larry has confirmed privately that there are no changes planned at this time. He does have the prerogative to review the business operations at Spirit and optimize them. DA is an area where the club is drawing lots of interest from parents paying big $$ and doing well. Most business people don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If there are changes, more likely it would be withthe "free" ticket associated with the Super Y and potentially DA programs, streamlining coaching, staff, salaries, etc. But to cut out a significant revenue source would not be top on any executive's list.

But we get it supports someone's dreams here, which is why it's being so forcefully promoted.

Folding VA DA does not eliminate MD DA. Where does US Soccer require NWSL to run two DA clubs?

Best and most level headed post yet..................

I believe the rumors of a Spirit/FCVA partnership came from the rumor, and now reported, hiring of FCVA owner CC as past of the Spirit coaching staff

Well if you have Larry's ear you should clue him in on the rumors the Spirit parents are hearing. You are not speaking to outsiders here you are speaking to Spirit parents who are not exactly dreaming for this particular scenario of a folding DA. And if parents don't get info soon they will begin to jump ship.
