Hate people for their race.

If I call the police I tell them that I am black and give a description of myself. One time I did that and the dispatcher, who sounded AA, kind of chuckled. I was calling about an injured deer in the road next to our house. My husband who is white, never uses racial terms, but he said that from now on, if he has to call the police, he will give them a rundown of the race of everyone in the house, and tape the phone call.

No chance that he might have chuckled because you called the police about an injured deer?

No, she was glad that I called. It was disrupting traffic. The police were there in 4 minutes. All she wanted to know was if the deer was still alive.

I am a white woman with very curly hair that I straighten. I get the same comments. There is definitely a bias against natural hair in the workplace.

I’ve called the police to dispatch wounded deer as well......it’s the humane thing to do. Not sure why you needed to declare your race but well done in any event.

I was just at the mall with my AA 16 year old son and I made him remove his hoodie. I hate having to live this way. Causing a complex for him, while attempting to keep him safe...
