Yes! I applaud and appreciate the persistence of the Defender staff and others in bringing awareness to these terrible crimes — and to the way that mainstream press and some police departments handle them (often by ignoring or minimizing their existence. I think the development of a data base is essential, and something that would be important to have on a national level as well.

I hope the woman who escaped — gets the resources and support that she needs to heal. I hope the families and communities of all of the women who were terrorized do as well. This is sickening.

Reading this makes me appreciate the longtime historical impact of magazines like Jet and Ebony for national coverage of issues alongside more locally focused newspapers.
