Lol. I see a Repubublican revolt against Trump coming very soon.

I think Republicans will lose seats in 2018. I also think Trump may not win re-election in 2020.

He can't run after he's impeached.

Impeachment or being thrown out by an angry electorate in 2020. Whichever comes first.

If black voters had not gotten out in great numbers and funded their own efforts to get on the ground and ensure African-American voters got registered and were not deterred at the polls then Roy Moore would be celebrating today. This victory for Doug Jones speaks volumes of why it is so important for white people to not simply shrug their shoulders and say, “Meh” about issues like gerrymandering and police intimidation at polling stations and insufficient equipment and staffing causing long lines at polling stations and biased voter ID laws...white people cannot afford to tolerate the existence of these forms of systemic racism that inhibit African-Americans from exercising their Constitutional right because voter suppression affects white folks too. Had the Black Belt in Alabama been suppressed like they usually are, had black grassroots organizations not put forth the energy and effort to make sure black voices were heard this Alabama Senate race would have had an entirely different outcome.

Voter ID isn’t voter suppression. If there is voter suppression, it needs to be quelled immediately. I didn’t hear anyone complaining about the purged Brooklyn voters in last year’s primary but, that was Hillary v Bernie. And F Bernie amirite????

Ok...but what about closing the offices in predominantly minority districts where these ID's are obtained - which is what happened in AL? See...here is the rub. If you want to require a voter ID, then you need to make damn sure that everyone who needs one can get one EASILY. Requiring the ID and then putting up hurdles to getting them is prima facie voter suppression.

This.
I was just going to link to a single article, but this whole thread talks about the GOP shenanigans, Alabama edition. https://mobile.twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/940510156894425089 It's a lie, a flat lie, to say that "voter ID isn't suppression" when the people responsible for it SAY IT IS and then add additional hurdles to getting an ID!

I'm good with that but it needs to be managed properly. No problem with American citizens getting easily obtained voter IDs ONLY. Too many non-citizens have been voting.

Proof?

I mean, if one is here illegally, the last thing they are going to do is register to vote.

I believe lots of democrats recognize this, which is why immigration is such a hot-button issue. Liberals won't even admit that the attempted bombing in NYC was due to their own policies, even when the guy was found still wired and screaming why he did it.

Oh please, at least Dems try to get an agenda through. What do republicans do? They talk a big game but it's never followed through, always half assed (like the travel ban incidentally lol - why only 7 countries? Why not ban saudis? The ones responsible for 9/11 and the biggest funders of extremist groups?)

Why don't they defund Medicare and medicad? Why don't they privitize social security? If you're in control and you hate subsidizing the poor then rip out the safety nets once and for all!

Yes he can. He can't run after he is convicted, you mean. An impeachment with acquittal in the Senate (see Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) is a real possibility.

My facebook feed is full of "Roll Tide" posts this morning. Made me a little teary, actually.

And before someone decides to NCAAsplain "Roll Tide" to me, yes, it is clearly a bit of a nonsequitur, but we in Alabama understand what it means here.

As a life long college football fan and U of Alabama hater, I can't believe I'm saying this... but just this once...

ROLL TIDE!

Congratulations, Mr. Jones. Well done.

And thank you for fighting for justice for four little Black girls back in 1963.

? You are seriously wacked. You don't see the difference between the two situations? Why don't you put the blame on Waco where it belongs... on a crazy white man named David.

That's what I'm talking about. So glad we have someone who fought for justice going to the Senate. That's the way it's supposed to be.

And, you cannot see that there can be two wrongs?

Of course the bombing of the church and the deaths of the four little girls was awful. We can all be grateful that justice was finally served. Jones and his staff did a great job on this. (Laws had changed which enabled this after so many years.)

Yes, David Koresh(sp?) was responsible. That does not excuse the fact that the government handled it poorly.

So called "Christians" like Moore and his apologist supporters are one of the main reasons why I haven't stepped foot inside a church in many years now.

Anyways I would like to say Congratulations Alabama! your efforts have helped ensure that any damage done by Trump can be limited in the future.
