Basis Mclean

BASIS seems to be opening up a lot of private schools: Silicon Valley, Brooklyn, McLean, no another school in Fremont. Is there really that much demand or is something else (profits) fueling this expansion. More to the point, it's not like there is an unlimited number of qualified teachers/admin out there. How do they plan to staff these schools? I'd love to look at the qualifications for the admin team in Fremont....something tells me they are not "expert educators with years of experience", but more likely recent college grads and first-time managers. BASIS has balls to charge tuition for that.

Have you checked what is available for free in the publci schools? $25k is $25k too much.

Do any of you live in NOVA? We have one good private high school and one that's so-so. It's a wealthy area and we have money to spend on private schools. I don't care that Basis DC is free and McLean is $25k a year. I'd rather pay that then schlep my kid to GDS from NOVA.

I would really like to get back to the heart of the discussion and figure out what's going on with the admissions team and with the school as a whole.

The reason there are so few private HS in the area is Becasue the public HS are good and some are excellent. Why pay for something you can get for free?

Yes! And in many cases the public schools in NoVA are better than many of the privates in DC. That said, I'm a huge fan of Basis and think it's a great addition to the NoVA area.

Hey you PPs should know that the person you're responding to in itAlics isn't going to write back. Jeff outed her as a BASIS shill from NYC on page 9, and once that came out she put her hard-working tail between her legs and has been too ashamed to come back.

We are from LMS and knew another family who are considering sending their kids to BASIS. Not sure if they are committed already, i.e. paid the $2500 deposit.

AMA poster- Why is it called Basis-McLean and not Basis Tyson's?

I don't think they understand where "McLean" is.

The question was about Langley not Longfellow.

Maybe she's ashamed of her poor writing abilities.

This girl out of New York City had awful grammar in her shill posts. I hope they didn't pay her to write on here. "The curriculum is the curriculum." That's where I want to send my kids! The Blocks should be proud! Go Blocks Go!

You can MEET the Blocks! Apparently they are coming to town on the 22nd. Roll out the red carpet!
