Except you can't care for 14 children "equally"--it's not possible no matter how much you may want to. Six children between the ages of 2 and 7 are already a physical and emotional handful, especially if you're single and poor. Bringing 8 infants more into that situation is complete insanity. This is beyond selfishness and irrationality and loneliness--there is something fundamentally wrong with this woman. She's like an insecure little girl collecting dolls.
And I want to say right on to the commenter above who made the observation regarding the hypocrisy of this mother from a "dysfunctional" home now expecting the support of her parents, among others. Whatever her relationship with her own parents, she has no right to bring all these children into the world and then count on them and others to raise them for her while she pursues a Masters degree, a book and/or tabloid deal, and (sigh) a reality show that will only exploit those kids. And what the hell is going on with her apparent Angelina Jolie obsession? The collagen injections, the hair and make-up--is that who she's convinced herself she is?? This whole story is so creepy and sad. Poor kids! |
I would not fault anyone for pursuing a masters degree. I think that is a very good thing. How else is she going to provide for the kids, unless she has education that she can use to get a job. And these book/tabloid deals, those are great for paying bills. After all the tax payer is not going to give her much. I do not think she can be called selfish. You have no idea how many things she will have to give up for her kids sake. All kids who need special needs schooling are entitled to get it. We live in a civilization. Nazi Germany eliminated the special needs kids from the master race. Those days are over. And do not call special needs childrens mothers selfish. You have no idea what they are going thru or how many things they have had to give up. Each to his or her own. |
Okay. To what extent should the larger society be required to pay for "each to his or her own"? Just asking. |
How can she afford to work? It would cost $115,000 a year just to put the octuplets in daycare. |
I think she is no more irresponsible then any other person having a baby who is not ready to take on this enormous responsibility which is raising a child. We cannot suggest regulating reproductive freedoms of these irresponsible parents, unless everyone of us is willing to surrender this freedom. But nevertheless it is irresponsible thing to do to have children in situation where one cannot provide for them. And I'm not talking about providing in material sense only. You have to be there for your child: you have to provide means AND be able to do it physically and emotionally.
Human body is not designed to carry so many children. So this woman is already not there physically. And she knew it. She said she knew risks, then why did she do it? If she is willing to compromise at this level, put all these children in this enormous danger, what else she is willing to compromise in order to have this many children? Don't these human beings deserve to grow and thrive? or is being born their only right? What will happen after they are born. I don't know this woman, she might be some kind of superhuman able to carry 8 kids and then raise them all without shortchanging any of them. I guess everything is possible. But if she fails, she fails not just her children, she fails all of us who deserve the right to reproductive freedom, freedom to raise our children the way we know is right. |
I am not happy with the way things happened, but the kids are here and she is their mother. Flaming her is not going to help. Se still has time for a post partum depression, let's leave her alone. If she makes money from this, then so be it. She will need the money to raise the kids. |
What a depressing story. Please tell me it's a nightmare and will be over when I wake up. |
Wow, dude, you must live an extremely sheltered life if a situation this removed from your very own life truly constitutes a nightmare. |
Are the 6 kids that she already has old enough to help mom take care of the infants? Or are the 6 kids babies/toddlers?
And will CPS check in on this family? Unless she grows a few extra sets of hands, how can she physically attend to all the children at once? |
How can she possible care for 8 babies, twins, and 4 children? 1 of the children is special needs (autism) This woman is SICK with some weird obsession with Angelina Jolie and HORRIBLE plastic surgery. She needs therapy to heal herself. Collecting children is not going to help her heal. What is she going to do when they grow and are no longer little dolls go have more?! |
Do you have any idea what kind of salaries day care workers get paid? With that money she can hire her own staff. As far as tax payers paying for the special needs schooling. The money going there is a lot lot less than what is being thrown around and wasted in the economic stimulus etc stuff. CEOs who are not poor are getting tax payer handouts, whats wrong with some kindergarten kids getting some too? |
This octuplet mom has an eerie resemblance to Angelina Jolie. |
I was thinking the same thing. Do oyu think she is trying to be like her? |
Does anyone think maybe the doctor is the father? |
The point was that this woman does NOT have that type of money. She has basically spent the last 10 years on disability, has minimal job experience, her only job experience is in low paying jobs, and she has shown that she makes questionable decisions. Finishing her masters degree is not going to get her a high paying job that would be required to support 14 children while working out of the home. As unfortunate as it is, it will probably be less costly for the taxpayers of California to have this woman go on welfare and be a SAHM than it would be to subsidize her return to work. The daycare cost is based upon paying $280 a week for daycare for an infant. This is a middle of the road figure. It only included the infants and not the other six children who would also require daycare or before/after school care if she returned to work. |
