S/o how much was your wedding ring?

My DH lost his wedding ring while playing golf. Removed the ring, put into the pocket, the pocket had a hole and gone... His replacement ring, also lost at the same golf course. After this, we did not buy the replacement ring and we both now don't wear wedding ring at all. I haven't lost my engagement ring, though.

It was a set; $2700 on clearance.

Wedding ring was like $50. Plain silver band. Engagement ring was about 20k and I rarely wear it.

We have silver bands - $50 each. Engagement ring was maybe $750 - titanium with a white sapphire.

I know because It was appraised when purchased for insurance purposes. I love it and it makes me happy looking at it everyday. It's beautiful and sparkles even when it's not clean. Most of my friends have at least a 2 carat diamond- and I don't hang around insanely wealthy people- just seems like the norm to me. I love jewelry though. I work with someone whose just got a 4 carat ring- now is that a bit much? well maybe, but I think it's beautiful.

Uh, yeah you do. My friend group is all well educated professional who make good money (200-300K HHI). No one has a 2 carat ring. Everyone is 1 carat or less, many don't even have diamonds.

Is a $20k ring really go to bring you more happiness? So wasting $12k on a bigger diamond is worth something to you?

Yes, I have spent money on dumber things that don't last. At least a ring lasts forever.
No it won't change my life but to me it's a good way to spend that money.

Instead of wasting your money on stupid material things you could put it to some good use in your community.

Please tell us the last good thing you did for your community PP?

I have a sapphire engagement ring that DH had designed and I adore it- it was about $2k, ten years ago. My wedding band cost $1k.

DH has a plain white gold band I think it was $200.

We are perfectly matched. My wife's engagement ring cost about $600. When we got engaged 16 years ago, I purchased a ring for about $400. The jeweler said we had 90 days to bring it back and exchange it and we would get full price exchange to trade up. I got the smaller ring so that I would have something to surprise her with (I proposed on an Alaskan cruise that we took together). When we got back, we went to the store and she picked out the $600 ring. She doesn't wear jewelry very often and didn't want anything bigger. I would have gotten her bigger (we married late and could afford moderately high), but this was what she wanted. We also picked up the wedding ring which is a sapphire wrap that goes around her engagement ring for about $500. So the whole set is only about $1100. And we put the saved money into the wedding that we paid for ourselves. 15 years married later and she's still happy with the ring and doesn't want to replace it.

7K Engagement, 2K wedding band. Truthfully I wear just my wedding band (I got one with little mini stones that wrap around it, it's very thin too). Don't need anything fancier.

DH keeps wanting to upgrade, but I like how I do my thing.

morons

Anyone spending that much for a ring - and even more for a wedding, btw - is an idiot.

Our wedding rings costed $250 each. We have bought ours online. We were initially searching for gold rings for sale and we were lucky to find such at online pawn shop. Some people are afraid of buying precious items online. But buying online is safe if you purchase from a reputable source.

I think it was between $200 and $300. It's a wedding band. I didn't want a diamond ring.
