Why would you say something like that? She's not calling your puny stone gross. So rude.

Is a $20k ring really go to bring you more happiness? So wasting $12k on a bigger diamond is worth something to you?

2400 for engagement ring, 200 for band.

I'm glad I didn't get married younger because I would've bought into the whole engagement ring thing. I would never wear a piece of jewelry so formal everyday and it's always strange to me to see women wearing flip flops and something the price of a new car on their finger.

I'm with you but ended up with one, because DH really wanted to give me one. Would have rather kept the money for something else, but it meant a lot to him, so there ya go. Although mine was not very expensive compared to what others are quoting.

$7500 engagement ring. $1500 wedding band. Definitely on the modest side for my crowd, but they are very understated and plain. Kinda like me.

Yes, I have spent money on dumber things that don't last. At least a ring lasts forever.
No it won't change my life but to me it's a good way to spend that money.

DH paid a friend of ours who is a jeweler in NY $2400 to make my engagement ring in my design. This was the setting, the center stone was from DH's mother's ring. It's perfect, came out just how I wanted it.

Our wedding bands were $250 total.

Instead of wasting your money on stupid material things you could put it to some good use in your community.

My God people STOP. She's allowed to want something different from you. You don't need to try to convince her that she should be doing something different with her money or that she should feel differently than she does. NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME.

Not sure about the engagement ring b/c DH bought it but I think it was around $1000 back in '95. My plain gold wedding band cost about $300.

If I had known DH was going to buy me an engagement ring I would have told him not to. I like the look of just a plain band and not really into spending $$ on diamonds.

Engagement ring was free (his grandmother's). Wedding band was about $1500.
