Is this based on a factual data or more of a assumption? |
Really? You are right that's much different than saying %50 win. May I ask how do you know this? Is this something the AART/county suggested? |
|
We just sent AAP appeal last week for a 4th grader with GBRS=9 & WISC FSIQ=152 %99.9 with VCI=146, PRI=139,WMI=138, PSI=152.
I have to admit I have no idea what the bench marks are and where other 4th graders stand. I am very new to the AAP process as never applied before until my child's teacher recommended it. Original file included some test my child took in 2nd grade, I remember NNAT=125. I am trying to find out what the acceptable ranges? and also, is there any program available other than AAP for my kid who has high IQ and needs to be challenged? The psychologist suggested good private schools but we can't afford it now and was looking for something the county offers. Many thanks in advance! |
Yes, it's called FCPS general ed, which is filled to the brim with similar kids whose parents aren't quite as crazy or pushy as many of the people on these forums. |
Appreciate the reply, could you please refer to material for general ed? I couldn't find anything on FCPS website. Is it school based? |
Your child seems very smart and probably belongs in AAP. I would think the AAP is best suited for your DC. Public schools are nice but not challenging enough for a child with an IQ of 152. |
That's what the evaluate suggested but his GBRS is low at 9 out of 16. Do you think he has a chance? The AART in school seemed very indifferent about the WISC scores, so I assumed it's a loss if FCPS committee is also going to react that way also. Bottom line, I want him to excel, if it's not AAP something else at least. But I have a lot of questions being new to this thing. I am glad to find this forum with so many people with experience in this area. Any suggestions is welcomed. thx. |

What is this list? Are these scores who got in? |
|
These are all scores that are appealing
For # 10 on the list can you please add NNAT2 156 & Fxat 89 Thanks - |
| I cannot believe that your child (#10) did not get in during the first round. S/he had impressive scores, so I went back to the list expecting a GBRS of 6. So surprised that the 12 and those test scores were not enough. I would bet good money that the Full Scale WISC of 135 will be plenty to get your child accepted on appeal. |
| PS I back this up with my kid's own experience. Accepted in first round with NNAT 126, FxAT 89, GBRS 12, and Full Scale WISC (submitted with parent referral) of 137. Good luck! |
This makes me hopeful. We are #4 on the list, in a similar situation as #10. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |

WISC: FSIQ: 150
NNAT: 151 FxAT: 78% GBRS: 11 mailed appeal last week. |
it looks like all of them with high nnat and low fxat scores. |
