I don't know what part of the County you live in, but we all have private trash services where I live. The County does not pick up our trash, and my trash can sure doesn't say "Property of Fairfax County" on it. I have 2 large dogs myself, and I would prefer that passersby not put their dog poop in my can. For my own dogs, I have a separate covered metal can for bagged poops. When I put out the trash, the contents of the metal can are put into a garbage bag. That is the last bag to go into the can before it is rolled to the curb. That way, I don't have to deal with smaller poop bags getting left behind or squished inside the trash can. If you are putting your poop bag inside someone else's trash can, at least to slip it into the top of a garbage bag in there so it doesn't make a mess inside the trash can! |
| Absolutely not. It's the one thing the trash truck refuses to pickup under any circumstances. |
In our county, you're following regulations, which means you're doing yourself a favor by picking it up. |

I would never leave my dog's poo in someone else's trash can. It is bagged appropriately and there's no reason I can't walk to the nearest public trash can or to my own house.
I would not appreciate someone coming onto my property and leaving that c**p in my garbage can. |
| Do not! |
| Sure, if you don't mind my bullet in your head. |
| I would NEVER leave it in someone else's trash. If you choose to have a dog, you clean up after it. That includes picking up the poop and taking it to YOUR OWN trash can, not sneaking it into someone else's trash. If you don't want to have to carry your dog's poop around, don't have a dog. Very simple. |
| I would prefer you use my trash rather then find it tied up around the neighborhood. Or better yet watching the older neighbor who I have seen throw it down the drains on the streets, and what kills me is we are one block from a public trash and he lives right by it! |
| That would gross me out, please don't. |
|
If I'm walking my dog on trash day, and the bins are already on the curb, and the bins are open (i.e., I don't need to take a lid off), then I'll put properly bagged poop on top as I'm walking past.
I wouldn't open someone can or go onto their property to do it, and certainly wouldn't do it if the trash weren't already out to be picked up. |

I'm not sure why this thread keeps resurfacing.
Yes, I will put my properly bagged dog waste in your trash can if it is the nearest available and easily accessible. No, I don't care if you leave your properly bagged dog waste in our trash cans. It's better to do that than to leave it on the street. Yes, there are strange dog haters who keep coming to this thread acting like obnoxious jerks over a minor thing like this. Case in point, the idiot posting at 11:22 on 3/5. |
|
The problem is, when the trash collectors pull my bags of trash out, the small bags of poop either fall the bottom of my can or fly out and end up in my driveway.
It is just rude! |
You are the worst. Why would you ignore the reality that the bags get dropped by the garbage men? In an ideal world, they wouldn't but that's the truth. And I'm sick of picking up your dog's shit bags in my alley. |
| If it's in a knotted bag, I see no problems. I can't for the life of me figure out why people get all uptight about some bagged TRASH going into a TRASH CAN. |
Your dog. Your trash. Keep it with you till you walk home and dump it in yours. That's a responsibility that comes with having a dog. |
