Yeah it was weird bc she basically said, time for you to go, this baby is the future and you are the past. But Elizabeth is...pregnant and (to be frank) probably more likely to carry to full term and produce a healthy child. Whereas Spencer and Alex's son will very likely die (especially if he is going to be sitting out on that porch all winter...).

Feeding a premie out on the porch after the baby's mom basically froze to death makes it extra crazy.

What also bothers me is that Alex never got to tell Spencer about all the hard journey she experienced getting back to him.

It bothers me she did not wait. She could have had the baby in England, in Chicago…There was zero need for the car journey and all the disasters.

She could have taken the train the last stretch like the woman warned her.

The drawing out about the rabies shots, unnecessary; the violence against Alex every episode, unnecessary; the sadism of Whitfield with the prostitues over every episode, unnecessary. Every one of those things could have been dealt with in an episode and benefited from tighter writing. The whole season seemed LAZY. We get that the life in the old west was hard, that violence was everywhere especially for the naive, women, and minorities. TS should be fired and the next prequel cancelled. Lazy, lazy, lazy, and insulting.

Entire season in 40 minutes was possible, including scenery shots and credits. If they do 1944, please new writers!

I've never understood why they sit outside in the freezing cold!

Did she think she had to stay with him until morning to nurse him before the milk goats went on sale? Did she just not want to live after those amputations?

She basically said that she did not want to live if she would be unable to move freely. There was a comment about having stumps and people comparing her to wild mustangs.

I bet her son would have preferred his mother alive. She goes through all of that just to give up at the end? Utter bs.

It was beyond dumb. She's a highly intelligent and educated woman, witty and funny and that is her #1 quality, not her legs or her physical ability to do anything. It was a missed opportunity to be mentally strong and see her son grow up. Not to mention that people without legs can actually ride horses and do plenty in life. But she was also delirious and not thinking straight, and the Duttons, dummies that they are, didn't speak up to stop this foolishness. Or perhaps they are just so selfish and superficial they were grossed out by the idea of amputation and happier with her dead than than at the ranch needing accomodations.

Life on the ranch is tough. I understand her decision especially given her personality. Her body, her choice.

Yeah I blame the Duttons too. At the end of life, your body and mind are shutting down as part of the dying process. Of course she was ready to just fall asleep in that bed. Shocking that Spencer didn't make even a half-hearted attempt to change her mind. I mean there are plenty of other opportunities to die on that ranch if life becomes too much later on!

Could a premature baby (3 months early) suckle at the breast like that? I thought they had trouble with that.

You know some countries, you would park a baby in a stroller while go inside for a meal or whatever. Why are you making cold such a big deal? Yes, premature baby, but you are making it like cold of any kind is bad. 🙄

Do you understand anything about premature babies (born 3 months early)? I don’t think so.

I thought Elizabeth was pretty bad ass at the end - pregnant, ubder the table using her shotgun and saving the man who just had brain surgery. She got no credit for that from Cara.

Cara was weirdly cold to Elizabeth
