Under Obama and Biden all air traffic control recruits still had to pass the air traffic selection and training test (AT-SAT) for acceptance to the federal Air Traffic Controller Academy in Oklahoma City. The minority percentage went from 10% to 13%. Thankfully this is the first accident since 2001. It's really unfortunate that people are blaming this on diversity hiring. Where is the proof? It's incredibly reckless to make that claim without supporting data.

Please explain in detail what exactly you think is the problem? If there is a shortage of ATC then why wouldn’t you analyze your internal policies to see if you can expand the hiring pool?

The problem is that whether or not you're dwarf, a quadriplegic, your race, or if you have a learning disability takes precedent over qualifications and aptitude. None of those things should have any weight in the hiring process. Period. Yet Biden and Obama ramrod it through and force this junk. That's why everyone hates the Democrats.

As a pilot who flies in DC airspace frequently, this discussion is really disheartening.

Once the helicopter pilot announced that they had visual contact with the CRJ, and that they would maintain visual separation, the responsibility was on them.

We can debate the wisdom of airspace design, and whether or not helicopter routes should intersect approach corridors for DCA, but given the current rulebook the tower controller did what he was supposed to do. Doesn't matter if he was white, black, male, female, or other.

By all indications it was the helicopter pilot that screwed up. Wasn't at the proper altitude and said he had a visual but was apparently tracking the wrong plane.
