We do not know what led to this crash, but we have some very strong opinions and ideas,” he said. “And I think we'll probably state those opinions now, because over the years I've watched as things like this happen and they say, ‘Well, we're always investigating.’”

How long do we have to listen to this garbage? Now this tragedy will turn into a race issue and the country won’t be able to get together and grieve for these people.

Actually I think he said we should hire the best and the brightest air traffic controllers and not base hiring on race, sex, orientation, etc. It’s called a meritocracy.

But nobody can prove it's not already a meritocracy.

How do we know that none the these people had the qualifications? We will learn more with time about the accident, but it sounds like human error. Plenty of white men make mistakes regularly and it gets to just be their mistake, but a minority or a woman makes a mistake and all of a sudden it’s a DEI problem. Ridiculous double standards.

So you think Trump knows more about the true cause of the crash than the airline, the military, and the FAA, which have not yet reached a conclusion since it's only been a few hours?! You ascribe a lot of talents to Trump, but I'm surprised you also think he's a expert on aviation disasters.

Big tech has their hands in ATC training way more than DEI initiatives.

Being forced to work 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week will do this. Maybe they need to hire even more ATC's rather then cutting government?

It looks like I should minimize flying right now.

We don’t live in a meritocracy. Never have, probably never will. That would mean solely hiring on metrics and evidence and we don’t do that. That would mean no more “personality hires” or getting jobs for friends and family. That isn’t merit.

Yeah. I hate the idea of postponing life until grown ups are in charge again, but I am.

Tell me you know absolutely nothing about federal hiring without telling me you know absolutely nothing about federal hiring.

He said the FAA is littered with unqualified minorities who Biden hired but then said that flying is perfectly safe.

I didn’t mean federal hiring. I meant America in general. We do not live in a meritocracy.

Too bad about that hiring freeze Trump ordered.

I think you missed PP’s point.

Any time you hear someone say "DEI hire" as a disparaging term you can replace that with the n-word and be assured that's what they really meant 99% of the time.

So for anyone out there who does this, please be aware this is what decent people think of you when we hear that, and if that's not the way you want to be thought of, you're going to have to prove otherwise through sincere words and actions.

Aside from the disgusting DEI comments, early indications are that ATC didn’t do anything wrong. It was the Blackhawk that reported visual contact and then failed to maintain separation.

So are you unaware that air traffic controllers are a federal job, or are you so insecure you have to pretend you weren't referencing air traffic controllers when you clearly were just to save face?
