Mid-50s white woman here. There have been articles written about air traffic controllers who fall asleep on the job, are stoned, drunk, no mention of race. There have been lawsuits brought on by graduates of college programs that were supposed to give them a leg up in admissions to Air Traffic Control training. Big tech has their hands in ATC training way more than DEI initiatives.

I've heard ATC training can be brutal at the local level, a lot has to do with supervisors. And during training, the supervisor is plugged into the ATC trainee until they feel they can work on their own. Historically, it's been very easy for ATC to be racist. I don't see how this can be a DEI issue when it's still really challenging to become an ATC.

That's not what he said or meant. And what you've done is create a fail safe for yourself. Any person who's not a white man must be unqualified because of dei. Under previous administrations, yes.

You apparently don't currently work for the federal government, like my dh does. Most agencies are in some form of chaos right now because leadership has been fired before anyone was appointed.

Personally, I would not fly right now..
