Here's how to report your neighbor for not clearing their sidewalk

OP here. I'm signed up with my local to help shovel for elderly people.

If someone's truly incapable, there are abundant services to help and assist the disabled and the elderly. But mostly... people who don't shovel/salt are lazy AF and refuse to make their own arrangements. I give no F's for those nasty neighbors.

You posted every number but that one. What’s the number to that so I can get you over here to dig me out. Bring take out

We only had to slide on your icy sidewalk for 3 whole weeks!!! Woohoo!!

Three whole weeks? Don't think it was that long.

Yeah, it's annoying to see a stretch covered with ice, so I just walk on the snow around it. I shovel mine because of fear of litigation but I guess others don't mind (and I live in a super blue area so you can't blame it on Trump, I know that a bunch of the houses with iced sidewalks had Harris/Biden posters last year). Life goes on.

So they are mourning. Give them a break, please.

Yes you can. I did it yesterday.

I think we all know there is zero chance she is helping anyone.

Unfortunately Fairfax and Prince William counties don't have enforcement, to my knowledge.

What is with all the bad neighbors in this thread? Is that the community you want to live in? One where everyone shirks their responsibilities? Be a good neighbor. Either figure out a way to clear your sidewalk or ask your neighbor for help. If you ask for help, be willing to help them in the future.

You are a hateful person. There is no reason to go around reporting 80 year old grandmothers who are unable to shovel their sidewalk.

I won't report an 80 year old or disabled person (and we know our neighbors since we are in a community!), I will and have helped them shovel or done it all, but I will report lazy neighbors.

Now you are making excuses for your bad behavior. Who ate you to judge with neighbors are lazy and which are not. The odds are that code enforcement will cite everyone on the street that has not shoveled their driveway. They don't just selectively fine the people on the street you report.

This. Once the police show up you can’t control what they notice or do.

Arlington is not enforcing the sidewalk law this storm. It is a banner on the snow website.

OP: your Montgomery county link didn't work. Can you repost that one? There are apartment buildings who have not shoveled. Do they think they can just simply not shovel their sidewalks which are part of the residential neighborhood used by everyone, not just their apartment residents? There are residents at those aprtments getting off buses to arrive home in the dark to walk or rather slip and slide on the sidewalks and apartment walkways to get to their apartments. Disgusted by the managements. They need to be ticketed asap. Yes this storm is taking extra time and effort but it's been more than 48 hours and no sign of any cleanup. Channel 7 News will be contacted next if they don't f cking clean out the hazardous sidewalks!

I shoveled my sidewalk from edge to edge on a corner lot, and also shoveled the walkway to our porch. Did not bother shoveling my driveway, except where the sidewalk crosses it, because I don't intend to drive anywhere any time soon. I assume that's not a problem for anyone since the only cars legally allowed to park in my driveway, i.e., my family's, are already parked there (and covered in snow and ice).

Part of being a home owner is taking responsibility and being a neighbor.

Sounds like city living is not for you. You should move back to Indiana.

Nah, I love city living. Most of my neighbors are absolutely wonderful. Reporting the few bad eggs is NBD.

Karen big mad about ice.

Yes, I do in fact value safety for everyone on the block

Fill out as many reports you like. I doubt anyone will even read them.

Bowser says they're not enforcing this and will waive any tickets that have been issued.

Which is the right move because this is not normal snow and it's very, very difficult to shovel.

And so if you live on a major roadway where people walk- you just aren’t going to clear the snow? It is not impossible, as evidenced by all the clean sidewalks. Shame!!

People shouldn’t be walking in this weather. Too cold.
