You are correct sir. I DGAF about you. Report away. |
Sidewalk is the city or county's area. But homeowners are required to shovel or de-ice? Is the city providing homeowners with a shovel, salt, de icer whatever is needed? If homeowner is shoveling and is injured, then? |
Ice melt is expensive. You sound privileged. |
You could have shoveled it on Sunday night before it froze, though. The snow was done by 8 p.m. and the forecast was nasty. |
If the homeowner is shoveling and is injured, that sucks for the homeowner, but they probably have health insurance. In most jurisdictions around here, owning a house means, yes, you have to clear the sidewalk. Doesn't matter if you shovel or if you hire someone else do to it, and no, the city is not providing you with a free shovel or de-icer. If you don't like it, go back to renting. |

It’s called salt. |
Where in the world did you grow up?? Shoving your sidewalks is simply part of being a civilized human being. |
|
No surprise, slip and fall is the most common lawsuit against homeowners. Also, very easy for people to file sham lawsuits against homeowners that leave their walk unshoveled.
Even if you are a lazy douchebag homeowner…seems like at least you would care about keeping your $$$s. |

There’s a special place in hell for the people and businesses in DC that have done nothing about the ice on their adjacent sidewalk. The Swiss Embassy is a big offender in Woodley Park and you can’t tell me it’s because they are enfeebled or can’t afford salt. Tons of people, including school kids, use that sidewalk and it’s treacherous with a hill and a curve.
DDOT needs to fine itself—its failure to de-ice sidewalks on bridges is a dereliction of duty. I’m in full support of coming down hard on those who don’t do their part to make it safe to walk in the city. |
| If I report them for not shoveling but they’re here illegally will they get deported? |
Maybe ICE will shovel on their way out. |
| NARC. |
That's not how snow works. |
