Shocked at the deferral! |
Prior year 5 kids got in to UGA in EA, over 20 deferred. 16 got in RD from deferral. |
Deferred
3.9 unweighted GPA 29 ACT 9 APs Nothing crazy with extracurriculars Was expecting to be rejected so the deferral was a surprise |
Major? Also, general reminder UGA recalculates GPA using their own formula. |
Wowsers! UGA is as hard to get into as Emory and Georgia Tech!!!!! |
I do think many high stat OOS kids love UGA for but also may be applying elsewhere so it makes sense to me. Stay hopeful!! |
Deferred
OOS (MCPS) Female 31 ACT 3.9 uw 4.5 w 8 APs good but not spectacular ECs |
Accepted!
32 ACT, 4.0 UW 1 AP, 4 DE (school offers very few) No calculus (decided to take stats instead) Thrilled!!! |
Admitted
Female OOS (VA) 1510 SAT 4.13 UW 4.55 W 11 AP's Lots of EC's and volunteer hours |

I don’t believe so. I think around 13K were deferred today per Graves’ blog post. Last year around 7K total were offered admission in regular round. So it would seem like a long shot to now be in RD. Bummer for my kid who was deferred and has UGA in Top 3 but oh well such is life. |
These stats are all over the place. There seems to be no clear threshold for acceptance. |
Question. Does UGA reject applicants who apply EA or only accept/defer? |
They do reject. According to Graves, he expected about 20% reject. |
