It's a matter of Youngkin trying to get the Supreme Court to invalidate the plain text of a federal law. He did it exactly on the 90th day. And his actions resulted in American citizens losing their right to vote. They want to open the floodgates to purge American citizens at the last minute in the name of "preventing non-citizens from voting." In fact, Youngkin purged more American citizens than Virginians prosecuted for voter fraud (three) since he became Governor. |

Governor Youngkin responded to the ruling: “Let’s be clear about what just happened: only eleven days before a Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals–who self-identified themselves as noncitizens–back onto the voter rolls. Almost all these individuals had previously presented immigration documents confirming their noncitizen status, a fact recently verified by federal authorities. “This is a Virginia law passed in 2006, signed by then-Governor Tim Kaine, that mandates certain procedures to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls, with safeguards in place to affirm citizenship before removal–and the ultimate failsafe of same-day registration for U.S. citizens to cast a provisional ballot. This law has been applied in every Presidential election by Republicans and Democrats since enacted 18 years ago. “Virginia will immediately petition the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and, if necessary, the U.S. Supreme Court, for an emergency stay of the injunction.” Attorney General Jason Miyares also responded: “It should never be illegal to remove an illegal voter,” said Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares. “Yet, today a Court – urged by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice – ordered Virginia to put the names of non-citizens back on the voter rolls, mere days before a presidential election. The Department of Justice pulled this shameful, politically motivated stunt 25 days before Election Day, challenging a Virginia process signed into law 18 years ago by a Democrat governor and approved by the Department of Justice in 2006. “More concerning is the open practice by the Biden-Harris administration to weaponize the legal system against the enemies of so-called progress. That is the definition of lawfare. To openly choose weaponization over good process and lawfare over integrity isn’t democracy: it’s bullying, pure and simple, and I always stand up to bullies. “In the meantime, I encourage every Virginian to exercise their right to vote. Rest assured, I will never stop fighting to preserve the integrity of our election process. “The Commonwealth of Virginia will appeal this decision – all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.” |

Most are not citizens. But Youngkin purged some people who recently became citizens. And why is Youngkin violating the 90-day law? It's a Federal law! Don't like the law? Change the law through Congress and the POTUS. Did you even read the article? The DOJ lawyers in court affirmed that Youngkin had illegally canceled American citizens' voter registration: "This is a continuing violation of the 90-day period,” a Justice Department attorney, Sejal Jhaveri, said during a hearing in Alexandria federal court Thursday. “We do know that U.S. citizens are being caught in this program." |

Youngkin has already said he will appeal it to the fourth circuit and then to scotus as needed. The federal law doesn’t allow a “systematic” purge but Va. alleges this was an individualized process. They are asking for an emergency injunction. I understand the process quite well thank you. |

the DOJ and court agreed it was a systematic, not individualized process, so that as a matter of fact, has been established, so any appeal would need to be based on a matter of law, which is not unclear in this case. He can appeal as is his right, but at some point, it becomes frivolous. In the meantime, these people can vote. |

Well, that’s utter BS. 1500 voters were purged - almost ALL of whom had indicated they were non-citizens. Nice spreading of misinformation, otherwise known as lying.
