Many of them see him as a role model and aspire to his lifestyle.

Some of us just find his petty envelope of cash type of corruption to be quaint and old-fashioned compared to the legal bribery we get from more "sophisticated" council members.

Those programs don’t work and are a waste of taxpayer money. The only people they help are unscrupulous “community-based” scammers and set-aside consultants who produce garbage.

Which is basically the point of these programs, and quite a bit of .gov spending in general. How do you get so many rich "contractors" around here otherwise?

Alot of you all saying that aint live the community. These programs give jobs to youth and stop crime before it have a chance to festering. Hiring small and advantaged minority businesses to do the work with these kids and bringing money back into the community instead of always taking. They building up, circulating resources back within our community so more businesses can be utilized.

There is not one shred of evidence that this is true.

Trayon minion has entered the chat. They can’t be serious. Jobs? What are the math and reading scores like for those schools in his Ward? That coupled with the weekly violence is absurd. As someone mentioned, those VI programs are just shell contractors for ex-cons to fatten their pockets with no results.

lol. and give plenty of opportunities to skim off the top?

if you want to give jobs to the community at least create an actual business that gives workers marketable skills and the communities a needed sevice - a restaurant, catering, yard work, home repairs, painting … there’s a church in my neighborhood that has a small business for returning prisoners to do yard work. It’s great. “Violence interrupting” is none of that. To the extent “violence interrupting” works, it should be done by well trained, well supervised and well insured worker, not by randos who were on the corner one day and in a neon vest as a “violence interruptor” the next day.

Claiming that Trayon is being treated unfairly because of where he comes from or who he is doesn't make much sense. Duke Cunningham was a literal war hero - one of only two Navy aces in the Vietnam War - and a Republican congressman and yet went to prison for 8 years (and was denied a chance to see his dying mother) after being charged by the FBI for accepting bribes from defense contractors.

The federal courts are already cutting back the race-based set asides, like with SBA. Hopefully in time that will filter to DC. DC 8a contracts have largely benefitted the PG economy, not DC, by the way.

I seen violence interception work. A young buck about to shoot things up stopped by intervention. That is facts. You got to meet these young brothers where they at. You dont people with a bunch of degrees to teach these young ones wilding is not the way - that dont make no sense.

former ANC commissioner Clayton Rosenberg was just sentenced to 5 yrs in prison for PPP fraud. This case is not unrelated to Trayon's as Clayton was involved with one of the contractors to the program Trayon was getting paybacks from. Where there is smoke there is fire, and more will come out.
