I had an epiphany today: I don’t hate trump - I hate his supporters.

Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

Um, it’s progressives who hate America. Everyone knows that. And all the purple-haired weirdos are democrats; not republicans.

Nice try though.

Republicans aren’t out burning American flags and shouting “Death to America!” That would be Democrats.

Nah. They are just carrying a confederate flag through the Capitol.

DP. On one day. That happened on one day by a tiny group of weirdos who have been arrested and jailed. Meanwhile, practically EVERY day, we see LWNJ weirdos defacing statues, burning U.S. flags, raising Palestinian flags (!!?!!), harassing Jewish people, and screaming at anyone who dares to disagree with them. How many of those thugs have actually been sent to prison?

He has put 3 Justices on the Supreme Court to overturn roe v. wade and wants to ban abortion and will impact access to women's healthcare and fertility treatment like IVF.

He is a terrible person by all accounts. Used the n-word and b-word in private. He has mocked a reporter for disabilities, called veterans losers, and been mean, and hostile to women reporters.

He lies compulsively. And threatened to act like a dictator if elected again, praised Putin and Kim Jong Un as great leaders.

He has been convicted of 30+ felonies. He whipped up the traitors who stormed the capital into a frenzy, who chanted "hang Pence" about his VP.

Trump is objectively a terrible man who has done disgusting things. Repeatedly. And lies and takes no accountability. I don't hate many humans, but I can say that based on his actions and lack of accountability and cruelty, I do hate Trump.

No no no he was always just joking.... He isn't losing his mental faculties. He's just joking hahaha. He doesn't mean any of the crazy stuff he says

If one wants to see Republicans being heinous people to a pair of Democratic men, read the link. It is possible that the accounts posted by the OP of this reddit thread are bots or troll accounts, but it seems more likely that Republicans are just trying to bully a pair of gay men for supporting Harris.

Ya think? Not even going to click on your link. Reddit is a cesspool of trolls and anyone actually believing that garbage needs their head examined.

Every time a Republican says the most liberal and radical that we've ever had everyone take a drink

PP, a lot of these people will be done with politics after he's gone. Many got interested but were essentially apolitical before this and will be again.

Some people will realize they were conned by a con man.

Huey Long, George Wallace and Richard Nixon were earlier versions. No surprise that Roger Stone had a giant Nixon head tattoo.

Uhh you can't exactly call those people "Democrats" or "Biden/Harris supporters" when they call Joe Biden "Genocide Joe" and while they heckle Biden, Harris and other Democrats at campaign events. They clearly aren't Democrats. Hate them all you like but they aren't on the ticket to vote against. Harris has nothing to do with them and neither do the Democrats. To base your vote on a belief that they represent Democrats misses the mark by a mile.

Nope. You don’t get to disown these thugs just because they embarrass you. Part of the reason Harris didn’t choose Shapiro is because she’s pandering to that faction of your party - the antisemites. And they absolutely will vote for the Democrats. Stop playing dumb.

1. PLEASE don’t count your chickens before they hatch.🐣

2. I think what OP may be worried about, and frankly so am I, is that Trump may drop dead tomorrow, but his followers will simply be waiting for the next charismatic authoritarian to fall in line behind. It’s a legitimate worry.

When people are demoralized and marginalized they will fall for personalities like Trump. Maybe stop going out of your way to demonize these people.

A lot of the Trump supporters I know are neither demoralized nor marginalized. They just don’t care about democracy. They think Trump was great for the economy and hate LGBT people and don’t care about anything else.

In other words, morons.

DP. This has long been a talking point of the left, but I have yet to see any evidence of such. Please provide a citation that “Republicans / Trump hate LGBT people.” Because I’m a Republican and certainly don’t hate the LGBT community, nor do I know anyone who does. Plenty of us have beloved friends and family members who are gay/trans. So where, exactly, is your proof that Trump hates this community?

It’s not a talking point- like seriously wtf, I’m talking about people I actually know and go to church with.

Across the board being anti-LGBT is their #1 issue. They don’t want to see LGBT people on tv, don’t want gay marriage to be legal, don’t want sex education in public schools to include LGBT topics or normalize LGBT. And they all love Trump.

Doesn’t sound like anyone I know - not even remotely. The only objections people I know have is not wanting gender instruction (of any gender) in elementary school. Sex Ed - sure. But of course, that’s something Democrats want to roll gender discussion into.

You know teaching pronouns is part of the grammar curriculum 🙃

The pronouns change on a monthly basis.

Dem and Kamala voter here - really? If so, then tell us, what were the pronouns last month and what are they this month?

Well I was bisexual in June, then I identified as hermaphroditus in July and this month I've decided to be demigirl.

What I don’t understand is why all of a sudden we don’t ask questions of our candidates and demand answers. Inflation, soldiers need to come home, world relations with us, taxes, social security…. I don’t want platitudes I want answers that are going to work and not cost our nation of Fortune. I also believe the position of president should not a pay check, this should be a honorary position. Legal aliens (with green cards ) can’t vote, illegal aliens should not vote at all.

Do you understand what the word "practically" means? Hint: it does not mean "literally." The point being that we have all witnessed many days this past year where pro-Palestinian protesters have gleefully burned the U.S. flag - the last time of note was at Union Station recently, and before that, at every pro-Palestinian college campus protest. But do continue to deflect and gaslight.

They were protesting because they're demanding the Democrats do their bidding re: Gaza. Even if Democrats don't kowtow to their demands 100%, these people will still be voting for them. What's their alternative?
