She picked Tim

^ PP here. As much as I think Kamala is smart in selecting Walz, I'm not saying he's best candidate and that I'm a fan of his though. I need to learn more about him but I think he was a better selection for her to help her win the job. I think people only see what they want to see and Walz is a very smart politician who can sell ice to eskimos.

I'd argue that his political acumen is quite strong. Part of politics is making friends and. King across as down to earth and likeable which he has done in spades. I bet this is what impressed Kamala - I'm sure in private he's 10000% different. Very saavy, very smart. Shapiro's issue is that he is too emotional and he's already shown his cards - in politics you need to come across as an ally to whatever cause the VIPs want you to be for and Walz def is the winner v Shapiro in that game.

Kamala is sitting pretty, Trump should be even more worried. Shapiro was the easier one to disparage as he had more enemies. We shall see how this plays out but it def got more interesting!

Agree with all of this!

I look forward to 2025 if Kamala and Tim win

Yeah! The man who let Minnesota burn during BLM riots!

+1. Agree

Anonymous wrote:Walz helped ignite the George Floyd riots, the worst the country had seen in decades. While Minneapolis burned, Walz stalled on deploying the National Guard for an entire day, blaming the city for not submitting the right paperwork. Walz let his daughter leak the Guard's deployment plans online, so that rioters would know how long they had to loot the city with impunity. Minneapolis is a war zone because of Tim.

Just days after the attempted murder of Donald Trump, Walz called him and his supporters "fascists," egging on the same rhetoric that led to him being shot in the first place.

Walz has the most radical abortion laws in the country. Zero limits. Every year 5-6 babies are BORN ALIVE and then murdered “legally” under laws Tim's support.

On immigration, he famously said he wanted to provide a “ladder” so invaders can come over Trump’s wall. He is a radical open border zealot.

Walz oversaw the single worst fraud of the Covid era, the Feeding Our Future case. Thanks to ineptitude at your Department of Education, criminals stole $250 million of taxpayer dollars to spend on luxury cars, houses, and vacations.

Also during Covid, he approved $500 million in "hero pay" for frontline workers, only to have 40% of that money go to people who were ineligible or, in many cases, literally deceased.

In the House, Walz was Pelosi’s sidekick and did whatever the Democrats demanded.

He will try and disguise himself as a folksy midwestern moderate. In reality, he is a white male version of Kamala Harris. Radical. Inept. Undeserving to be in leadership.

Walz is the person who got Minneapolis under control during the Floyd riots after the city failed.

And is Donald Trump really the person who can Monday morning quarterback ANYONE about not authorizing the National Guard "early enough".....really?

Can we talk about how to pronounce his name -- I mostly hear it pronounced like it rhymes with "malls" but I think it would be better if it was pronounced like "waltz."

Very few Americans knew who he was until like a week ago (and most probably still don't) so it's not too late to just change it. It needs a sharper sound at the end to be catchier on the campaign trail.

Right?! Why didn’t she pick Shapiro and try to make a battle for PA? Did Shapiro not want it? Did the opposition research find stuff on him or Kelly? This is “meh” for me but maybe he’ll surprise us?

Shapiro wants to be president one day so he’s going to work his butt off to get Harris elected.

This election is going to be one on who wins the communication narrative. Walsh is a great communicator, especially for average folk.

Maybe so in the moment, but Shapiro’s lack of loyalty hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2014, he allegedly planned to endorse one of his closest political allies for PA governor. 10 days before the primary vote he flipped and endorsed Tom Wolf, who quickly appointed Shapiro as his successor two years before Shapiro “announced” he was running for governor! Sweet premeditated deal. Shapiro is loyal to himself. This fact was buried under all of the Pro Israel bashing against him. VPs primary responsibility is loyalty to the president, unless the president is a felon and election fraud.

If she’s going to get PA, it will be on her own, she doesn’t need the state’s gov to carry the state. I like Shapiro a lot but his previous statements are a distraction in this current political environment. People have short memories though and who knows what the landscape will look like in ~10 years, when he’ll be 61 - a very normal age to run for pres. Plus I think he needs to stay as Gov longer - he’s only in his first term.

Given everything going on Israel right now, the dual loyalty thing could've totally splintered the Democrats and it will always haunt Shapiro given the IDF story. I say this as a Jew who knows the antisemitic tropes too well.

Not to mention creating a constitutional crisis if he ever had to serve in her stead as Commander in Chief.

Gross antisemitism on display. Same comment would not be said about other groups.

+1 This is the dual loyalty trope. It's antisemitism 101. Now that you know, please do better in the future.

But there is dual loyalty. Some Jewish people I know say they care more about Israel than the US. Not saying that is Shapiro but it is not uncommon. No way he can even pretend to be unbiased in Middle East politics

So why are you saying there is dual loyalty? I'd check myself if I were you.

Jew here. Jews have been the target of this since before Israel existed. Not always considered a citizen by the country they were born into and live in. The divided loyalty thing is definitely a long-running anti-semitic trope and Shapiro having volunteered in Israel and worse, on a military base plays right into it. All it takes is for someone to say, "You volunteered for the IDF and not your own military, why?" It's devastating because even if it's misleading, it paints him with suspicion rightly or wrongly and it will follow him for his career.

What do you think his answer would be? (Maybe he has, but I haven’t followed him at all.)

Both of them should have gotten a facelift before running for President or VP. Too late for that now, so another missed opportunity to gain an edge over the republicans.

She looks way younger than 59. Why would she get a facelift when she already looks better than most of the early 40s people I know? Walz looks like a grandpa but that can be reassuring to idiots who think a young looking woman can’t be experienced or serious. Plus he’s energetic despite his wizened visage.

Kelly did not have a lot of pizazz beyond the resume. And I agree with PP that there was probably something that came out during vetting. His wife has been disabled for a long time. I’m a woman and pragmatic so I wouldn’t be mad at him for wanting physical intimacy with someone. But it would tarnish his public image as a loyal husband.

Agree with all of this, and that was my first thought too. Now that I'm grown, I am far more understanding of the complexities of human relationships but many don't feel that way.He also is low energy and not a good speaker. His resume is impressive but he is not easy to listen to. Plus no point in risking his seat with other excellent options in the mix.

This was a savvy choice.

I think Kelly was a better choice. I like Walz but he's not exciting, and Americans are so superficial and want exciting.

Have you heard Kelly speak? He’s about as exciting as rock.🪨

Because you plan on being the right winger who kicks off the violence as happened in 2020? Weird thing to brag about being a criminal but there you go.

Seems that anti-semitism on the left caused her to discard Shapiro. Expect campaign ads from the opposition to highlight this.

He is a liberal like Biden, not a progressive. There is a difference.

+1 Yes, a pragmatic liberal. More like Biden, far removed from Bernie.

+1. He also has the folksy charm like a Warren Buffett. I imagine he can bring up stories of growing up in Nebraska, teaching in South Dakota or being in Congress in rural Minnesota. America loves a true "log-cabin", salt of the earth type.

Yes, I am one of the people that said he looks like he is 80, but he does give off friendly Warren Buffet grandpa vibes.
